I think he has gotten better.

At first I wasn't a huge fan. We in New England are used to all these GOATs and Hall of Famers telling us everything and guys with rings on the radio (well I guess technically he has a ring), but what I am liking about Scal is that he is the opposite. It's counter intuitive but Scal had to use his brain to stay in the league, especially for the length of time that he did. He had to make a lot of observations and come to a lot of conclusions quickly and get it right to stick, so he sees things and thinks of things from a totally different point of view.

Tommy might have said something like "Hey you gotta pound that guy", but that's because Tommy could do anything he wanted.

Scal might see it differently and say something like "You gotta play the angle in that situation. You know he doesn't go left well, and his pull up isn't too fast, so he's probably gonna be looking for his teammate behind you, so might be able to anticipate that and cheat into the passing lane a little. If it doesn't work you gotta know the rebound is coming and be ready to head to the races."

It's a very thorough and tactical way of calling the game because Scal had to use all the tricks. When he came into a game he was fresh and had to go for instant impact. It's a pretty different way of thinking.

Scal sometimes almost exhausts me with all his constant observations. Definitely worth it though. There's nobody else I would rather have right now.

I tell ya who I love him way way way more than......Donny Marshall. Ugh.
