Gasol sure isn't worth it. Hes just too soft. I don't even think he puts up 20 and 10. I think 17 and 8. This team has enough without getting Gasol. Now when it comes to AK47, LETS START TALKING NOW!

Does anybody ever stop to think, that you don't have to respond to a person making negative comments.
I would like you guys to take these personal conversations to the Private Messaging system and leave it off the board.

We do have some new members that may not know.
I have to say, you guys could've really changed the tone of that one easily. Just agree to disagree.

I think to see this trade in a more meaningful light, look at it subjectively. For one, we are thin in the frontcourt, but stacked in the backcourt. Even if we move Pierce, we have a potential future star in Gerald Green, an exciting player in Tony Allen, and the every psychotic, Ricky Davis, all waiting in the wings.
But beyond Jefferson and Perkins, we don't have the depth (well, maybe Scalabrine).
Pau Gasol hasn't been able to live up to his potential because he hasn't been playing with very good players. He's had to rely on James Posey, Lorenzen Wright, and Stromile Swift to give him support, and they haven't been able to do that.
Playing alongside Jefferson will give Gasol many opportunities to get tip in shots near the rim. He's got excellent touch near the basket, not to mention ridiculously long arms and fingers for that extra extension. These two can feed off each other.
For his career (which is 4 years), he's been an 18 ppg and 8 rpg guy who gets nearly 2 blocks per game. But in the right system with better players, those numbers can jump up more, or become more meaningful--as in benefiting the team. His offense will give Jefferson some breathing room and some space to operate his own offense.
He's only 25 years old and is one of the quickest 7 footers around. Injuries have bothered him the past 2 years, and I'm hoping its part of his growing pains and not just his body not being strong enough.
Anyways, this is just offseason talks to kill time. I don't think a trade with Memphis is likely to happen.

Ive said it once, Ill say it again. I dont want any part of a trade that nets us a PF for Pierce. We have Al. Why not wait to see what he could become. The only legitamite trade rumor I wouldnt have minded was the Portland trade, just because i think Chris Paul is going to be a pint-sized Jason Kidd. Id also listen to LA if they really wanted Pierce, just to see if we could pry Livingston away from them somehow.

I like Chris Paul too Fresh... Not agreeing with this trade isn't a knock on Gasol at all. He is a hell of a player and I would love to have him on my team, but still Im not sure where this trade makes sense for the simple reason that fresh stated. We already have Al Jefferson as our Pf of the future. Getting Gasol would help, simply because he is a good player, but Im not sure where he would fit in the bigger scheme of things. We are basically just creating a log jam at PF rather than SG. I would just keep Pierce.

Gasol may not be the ideal C because he only weighs 240 lbs, but defensively, we can move Jefferson to guard the opposing Centers.
I would love to try and pry away Livingston, Telfair, or Hinrich away from their respective teams, but its almost as hard as teams trying to pry away Jefferson from us.

We'll have to wait and see how much work he's done on his low-post game, to know for sure. He seems to have enough size to do the job. Also sounds like he has put on more muscle this off-season. Reports from Vegas made it sound like that was part of the reason his game was off a bit in the summer league. It sounds like he's still learning how to use his added strength.

I am curious how much Gasol makes and for how long. He hasn't been in the league too long so if he has like 6 years on a max contract than I wouldn't take him, but if he has maybe 4 years on a reasonable contract I wouldn't have huge problems with that. A rotation of him, Perkins, and Al J would be pretty decent cause they all bring something a little different, where I wouldn't miss Paul and his huge contract that much considering all our perimeter players

I like how Loy pops in when the (censored) hits the fan btw. Where've you been man? What are your thoughts about the C's so far this offseason? You siked about the draft? I've been here, just working the strings behind the scenes. I did make the main site page (http://celticsgreen.com) and I have been also making other minor adjustments. I'm totally siked! Green and Gomes will be nice additions for sure. I am a little conserned over our PG situation and our Center spot is surely not tied up with Blonut and Raef.
