And so it begins. Season kicks off with the Sox trumping the Yankees. Its gonna be a good one.

My Orioles have a lot of young players we are banking on to provide help. Even though we may barely break .500, it's going to be fun just watching these young guys everyday.

What's going on with the Orioles, DM?

Hitting a rough patch to start the season. I have confidence that they'll work it out and finish the season on a positive note (which for us is a .500 record). Its way too early to think this is a lost season (like many O's fans are already thinking).
The bats are quiet, and the pitching hasn't been sharp. But the potential is there for the young guys to grow and show hope for the future.
At some point, the bats will start to get hot, and the pitching will correct itself.

Have they been stuck playing divisional games as well? That division has been monstrous so far.

Started off playing the Rays, then came the Blue Jays, then the Rays again, and now we are on a west coast swing, starting with Oakland.
Its not like we've been facing great pitching--our bats have all just collectively started off slowly. Normally, a few guys will be cold, but others will still be hitting, which will allow a team to have moderate success. We've really stunk because all our bats have been cold. Our only hot hitter was Felix Pie, but he's been injured a couple of games now.
Today was a good showing. Our young pitching stud, Brian Matusz, had a solid start, going 6+ innings and giving up 3 runs (8K and 1 BB). He threw better than 70% strikes, which is good. And our bats came alive, scoring 8 runs.
I think we are more than capable of having more nights like this, but our bats have got to be consistent.

As long as a few starting pitchers step up in the post-season, they should be able to hang with anyone. That lineup of their is lethal. Tied for the league lead in runs, and that includes going 3-20 with the bases loaded, once their BA w/RISP gets back to normal, look out.

I give your team credit, Fresh. They are the prime example of how an organization should be run from top to bottom. At every level, they preach fundamentals, and they develop young players well.
My Orioles are starting to head in that direction, but still have a ways to go to model after Minnesota.
BTW, congrats on the early season success. I really think the Twins will be one of the top teams in the AL (I can say this without grinding my teeth cause they don't play in the East).

Sigh I really wonder why the Sox don't try and trade Ortiz off already.

As bad as the Sox have been, the O's have been far worse. Its hard being a fan right now.

As bad as the Sox have been, the O's have been far worse. Its hard being a fan right now. Most surprising have been the Rays. Utterly dominant. I figured they would be pretty good but their hot streak is just amazin. As for the Os, least they arent the Astros.

With Ortiz it's to the point that they'd have a tough time getting anyone to take him. Dude can't play defense, so that eleminates the NL. Then throw in that he is hitting like crap and is wildly overpaid, and it looks like he may be a Red Sox for the rest of that contract.
The one exception to this is if they're willing to eat most of his contract in a trade.
