Right on. I know you are a college fan, so I'll be looking forward to having a partner in the scouting department. Though one more comparison using a player like Cherokee Parks will make me look over your resume again ;D

Parks was an awesome college player. (And I loved Erik Meeks too). I remember in that championshi game when he jumed up to block a shot he practically hit the top of the backboard but Corliss ahd timed it so well he shot as Parks was coming down and got it in anyway. I can't believe he didnt at least become a good backup. I mean he was more athletic than Montross who got some backup minutes. Him and Laetner both looked like gazelles in the ACC and suddenly looked awkward in the NBA. At least Laetner went to an all-star game

Yea Parks seemed like he woulda been like a 15ppg and 7rpg player at first. His career so went down the drain. He looks just like Laettner though, it would be funny if they were cousins.

Laetner I thought was the one of the greatest, if not the greatest, modern day college basketball players. Good one Derren,

Thank you, thank you very much.
Laetner seemed like he would have had a better career coming out of Duke--but he didn't. It goes to show that a big man who doesn't have good post scoring ability, has a harder time succeeding at this level. Googs was able to have a better career than Laetner because he has a better interior game.

I don't think Googs had any All Star appearances or comanded quite as much respect. He also got hurt earlier. Both guys were pretty good for the majority of their career but neither were major stars

Yea, its like many of these players looked so so good before then in the pros, they turned to crap. Examples:
Ed O Bannon Tyus Edney Christian Laettner Cherokke Parks LaPhonso Ellis Clarence Weatherspoon Calbert Cheaney Terry Dehere Eric Montross
more............

Out of that group, only Calbert Cheaney was a player I thought was going to have a good career in the NBA. All the rest (well, maybe Eric Montross) I could've cared less about.

Not even Weatherspoon? He had hype the size of another Charles Barkley. Oh, I forgot Miner, Day, JR Rider and Googs. Cheaney was quite a disappointment. I thought he would be at least what Caron Butler or Corey Maggette turned out to be. a 19, 4 and 4 player. It so did not happen. He even played with the celtics.

Weatherspoon was a first-team All-Rookie.
How about Randolph Childress?

Oh, I really didn't care for that guy after I seen how he acted after juking his man out. For those of you who haven't seen it (this must have been in the early to mid 90's), Randolph Childress had the ball in his hands and as he made his move to the left, he pulls the ball back and goes to his right. His defender gets tripped up and falls on his butt with his feet in the air. Childress, now totally wide open, looks down on his man, makes a jesture to his fallen defender to get back up and defend him, and shoots a three pointer (which to my distaste, he drains). To me, that's really unprofessional and uncalled for. I don't like players who play like this, who thinks its all about them.
