Did anyone else hear that coach Rudy T for the Lakers has called it quits?
If it's true, that's a very short tenure he had in LA.

Holy sh-t. Hes had it with Kobe already. I knew this wouldn't last but I didn't think it would last just half a season. They'll probably name Kurt Rambis interim coach. If not, maybe Bzdelik.

I think this is Michael Cooper's opportunity to become head coach of the Lakers. Now that George Karl is head coach of the Nuggets (the team he's currently an assistant for), he'll jump to the Lakers where a head coaching job will open up shortly. Jerry Buss is going to have to bring some positive news back to LA and what better way than to bring in an up and coming coach who happens to be a very loved former player for the Lakers.

Only for laker pride would Cooper coach LA. He might not be able to put up with Kobe though.

No, I think Cooper would take this job so that he can get started with his head coaching tenure in the NBA. Everyone's got to start somewhere, and his chance won't happen in Denver now that Karl is there. He won a ring in the WNBA and he was an assistant to Bdzelik with the Nuggets. The next step is to land a head coaching spot somewhere. ESPN keeps commenting that Phil Jackson could become the coach again. I really don't think so.

and i really don't care I think you should. If Jackson returns, the Lakers chances of winning another championship in the future rises significantly. I'm tired of the Lakers being on top and that's why I was thrilled when Phil (and Shaq) left LA.

Just to clear things up, rudy didn't leave due to a rift with kobe or anything like that, in the la times, there was tons of articles about this and it all said that his condition physically was just worsening, and he would get sick constantly, and just couldn't take the pressures of coaching, it was just taking a toll on his health.
As far as the whole phil jackson thing, that was just an article by J.A Adande who mentioned it as a possibility, it wasn't really based on any facts, it was more of a "what if?" situation.

To add to the wild rumors, a NY paper cited Isiah Thomas as a possibility, and apparently Isian is furious about it. Plus I read this morning that Larry Brown's name has been kicked around the papers, since his wife is from LA and he has coached for both the Clippers and UCLA. Also, latest from the NY Daily News is that Phil said no to returning to LA this year, and a "source close to Phil" says if anything he would lean towards the Knicks. But sports talk radio in LA still keeps bringing up Phil Jackson as a possibility.

phil will not return to the lakers, the only place he could coach again is msg So who coaches the Knicks when they play road games? ;D ;D There's talk from Jeanie Buss that Phil would love the opportunity to coach the Lakers again. Jeanie and Phil are tight (in a romantic relationship?). Phil could go to the Knicks, but he's not taking on a team with a lot of good players and the cap is outrageous. I wonder if these could sway his decision?
