No, unfortunately. Not much of a soccer or hockey fan.
Who are the favorites to win it all?

No, unfortunately. Not much of a soccer or hockey fan. Who are the favorites to win it all? figured so ;D i don't know who is gonna win it. unpredictability is the biggest reason to overcome the boringness of watching two teams playing 90 minutes and sometimes not scoring at all. i guess one can only understand the beauty of soccer if you're played it when you were young. unfortunately north americans are not soccer people, but it will change in the next 20 years... having said all that basketball still rules for me as for who's gonna win it then probably france, they're the heavyweights in the world, right there with brazil

Yo BC. so funny. i didn't see this post until right now. I was just coming to post some stuff on it.
I just cancelled my trip to go and see the tourny. I had tickets to a quarter final, semi final, and finals games!!! finals would have been sick. But unemployment has killed me. I just can't afford 12 nights of housing, food, and drinks. I am so frustrated. I was so looking forward to going.
anways, i just wanted to come and gloat a bit. My friends and i joined a fantasy league for those of us that couldn't end up going. at leas this way we still all feel like were involved.
as of this morning, i was ranked 53rd overall in the country out of around 1000 or so. I am pretty pleased and i had another great day today. I was about to pull spanish striker Morientes from my line up but decided to give him another chance and he came away with a goal today!!!!!!! nice. And one of my favorites C. Ronaldo from Protugal, a super sub came in to assist a goal in the last few minutes. awesome. so i think i have a good shot of really moving up in the standings.
i am going to transfer in my sleeper for tomorrow. English striker Wayne Rooney!!! the kid is like 20 and he is so aggressive and just has a nose for the goal. i can't wait.
on another soccer note. i have 38 days until i am cleared (hopefully) to play soccer again. I tore my ACL about 11 months ago, finally had surgery at the end of Jan. I can't wait to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could of been a decent soccer player if I stuck with it. I was a pretty good handler/sweeper whatever when I was practicing. I wasn't in any games or nothing though. The JV coach in my school said that I looked pretty good for a beginner.

i'm really glad and also a bit surprised that you at least know the game. ;D i'm happy youõre not the typical americans (or at least how the europeans see the stereotype - in this context not soccer playing nation that is) morientes and raul of spain is my absoulte favourites. and the team real madrid - i've been fan since i was 5. real madrid is like boston celtics - most storied franchises ever in their respective ballgames do you have a chance to follow the games in tv? btw seeing the semifinals and finals would be sick say all you want about the nba finals (when celtics are in then say )but can you imagine more than 50000 fans screaming in one breath... absolutely crazzzzy

All of you don't know what you guys are talking about. Its not soccer. Its Football. Rookies ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Nah, just kidding. Hey Howl and BC, keep up the talk about soccer/football. I feel like watching the sport when reading what you guys are posting. Howl, you are very passionate about soccer and I think your excitement for it is making me actually want to sit in front of my TV to see what you guys are going crazy over ;D BC, you're a European so I figure its in your blood to watch football, right (yes, its a stereotype as well ;D ). I have heard of Renaldo, though. And of course Beckham and Freddie Adu.

And of course Beckham and Freddie Adu. actually it's ronaldo, he's like a footballs (soccer for you ;D) michael jordan, he's brazilian, but he plays for my club - real madrid adu will be the one who brings soccer to the masses for the americans. mark my words derren if you'll ever come to europe then i take you to watch one of the games in a stadium. then you'll see what we're talking about ;D

first and formost i am a soccer fan. it was my first love and always will be. I love the beauty and the drama of the game. it is like a chess match where every move is countered by another. it is just amazing to watch the worlds' best work their magic and play such stunning ball.
BC. i have been a Barcelona fan my whole life. Not really sure why at first, but when Patrick Kluivert transfered to the team my love for F.C.B. grew. And then last summer when they had the US tour with Celtic, Man U, Juventus, and a couple of others, I watched my favorite player Portuguese Midfielder Quaresma. The kid is so skilled and so clever. I loved watching him attack. And of course Ronaldinho.
So i guess BC, you and I, are now Rivals!!!!!! let the battles begin.
and Meltinjohn, the 1 i was refering to was this past year when i was unable to play because of my torn ACL. I am couting down the days until July 22nd.

Hope you recover from your ACL injury soon Howl. And I hope you end the umemployement as well. Sorry to hear about that. But the Lord works in mysterious ways and sometimes you don't know or see why He does things, but it works out for the better in the end. I spent time collecting unemployement compensation after 9/11. I working for a popular hotel in Waikiki and a couple of days after that tragic day, Waikiki was a ghost town like I've never seen it before. Crowded streets buzzing with tourists from all over the world were all empty and deafeningly quiet. Needless to say, all hotels were facing major unoccupancy rates and were laying people off like crazy.
I'm going to make an attempt to watch an entire game of soccer and see what you guys are going crazy over.

So i guess BC, you and I, are now Rivals!!!!!! let the battles begin. well good to hear, this past season they split the series. let's hope for new battles next season. i like barca too, i don't see the antagonism between the two like spaniards do. for those who don't follow it's like soccer's equvalent to celtics and lakers rivalry. anyway howl we have the most important thing in common: love for the celtics. to me basketball has always come first and that remains so.
