i have read in several message boards that danny should try to get top pick by trading pierce. personally i think it's a stupid idea, especially considering this year's draft. i think the draft is deep but quite even, there's no duncan or lebron in it. on the other hand i would be pretty glad to get the rights to number one pick in 2007- the main prize will be oj mayo. ...and greg oden doesn't sound bad either. but yeah, it would be an auerbachian feat to accomplish

I agree that Pierce for the #1 is not a good idea. Everytime I hear a trade like that, I think of when Chicago traded Brand for a pick, which was either Curry or Chandler. That didn't turn out well.

I agree that it wouldn't be a great idea. I do like the OJ Mayo or Greg Oden idea.

Also, with DA's track record in the last couple drafts, he can pull a diamond out in the mid-first round. We need guys that will fit into Doc's system. That might not be the top stud that others are drooling over.
I would like to have another pick in the first round. I believe it wouldn't take trading PP to get either.

I believe Oden is coming out in '06, not in '07.
I do think Pierce is wearing out his welcome and could be moved for that right player. I'm not really interested in trading Pierce just for the #1 pick. It would have to be multiple high first round picks or a good player with the #1. I've read someone post Desmond Mason plus the #1. I'd listen to that, but I'd want more--maybe another future #1 (coming from Milwaukee, it may be another high lottery pick).

I say I sorta like the trade but not really. I dunno if they would deal 2 high picks for Pierce though + Mason. That might be pushing it. Maybe you could get the rights to TJ Ford, Desmond Mason and a future first. Seeing how Ford is hurt a lot, it may tempt the bucks to move him quicker.

Don't worry, I doubt the Bucks will trade the #1 pick unless Redd tells them to.

You think he has that much power as a player? Plus hes a fa. But I think myself that they are making more about Redd going than what will actually happen. Redd will probably stay after all.

Bucks did trade away most of their roster in order to be in position to sign Michael Redd long term. I do believe he has the power to dictate what to do with the pick. Just like the Magic situation with T-mac except I don't think the bucks will have the same problem.

Yea that is true. Seeing they dealt most of their salary out of there, They are probably thinking of signing him to a lot like a small market version of an Allan Houston contract meaning maybe 15 to 16.5m a year. Going after a good free agent, getting a new coach and getting a good lottery pick should set them straight.

If, and a big if, Ford comes back, they should be heading in the right direction, but they will need more to contend.

The Magic surprised many people last year by selecting Dwight Howard, a player who just finished high school, over a proven big time player, fresh off a national championship with UCONN. The Bucks might surprise many people this year by going with Marvin Williams. Williams is a worthy gamble--he was a valuable contributor as a freshman on a national championship team. But its a tough decision because you are bypassing a very solid big man who should be among the best Centers in the league for years to come. Conventional wisdom says that you build from the Center and PG spot. But this is a new brand of basketball and the rules have changed (or have they?).

Bogut will not be one of the best centers for years to come. I give him 3-4 years then he slides off. I say yr 1, his numbers wil be 11 and 8, the next yr they get a little better and the yr after maybe he'll get 15 and 10 but then he slides back after that season.
