Herald reporting that it is a done deal.
The Celtics, their needs still unaddressed at backup point guard, made a strong move today to add defense and strength to their frontcourt with the signing of veteran power forward P.J. Brown.
The 36-year-old Brown played for Chicago last season before going into semi-retirement. He was also pursued by the Celtics last summer, but expressed a preference to remain near his home in Louisiana, though he ultimately didn’t sign with two of his supposed targets - New Orleans and Dallas.
He is consided a rugged defender and rebounder - especially at the `four’ spot - and should provide the Celtics with yet another accomplished role player.

TERRIFIC NEWS!!!!!
He may not be the same PJ Brown from 5 years ago, but he's still a serviceable vet big man who knows how to play defense and rebound. But the most important part of this signing is that when we go into the playoffs, we won't to rely on our young big men pulling their part. This gives us some cushion.
I think this move is another fantastic one for Ainge. Along with Posey and House, PJ Brown gives us valuable veteran presence in the playoffs.
Good job, Danny.

On the radio today DA was asked if it was official and he was like "sure. It's official."

perfect fit, now Cassell with a buyout from Clippers and they can put the 17th banner in the garden now

PJs at least an upgrade over Pollard. I'm getting very antsy waiting for Sam to actually get bought out

PJ is an experienced big man who just gives us more depth. The good thing about PJ is he can play and he isn't going to command a ton of minutes and will just do his thing. He's the right kind of player that fits into what the c's are trying to do. good defender, rebounder, tough minded experienced guy who can just come in and play and will solidify the rotation. I like this signing. DA is good at making the right decision and PJ has kind of been under the radar a bit.

The only thing that makes me nervous is that he shot less than 41% last year, but that should improve with the Big Three taking defense away from him

Solid pickup... my thought was that if that what I'm talk about happen there's no chance for other teams, we will be the 07-08 chams

PJ and Pollard on the same team? Did I die and go to past their prime, back up big man heaven?
But seriously, good move.

More or less guarantees Scala will be waving the towel from the bench. Solid pick-up.

This is the big guy I have been clamoring for all season. This guy played very well last season, and is a hell of a defender. PJ is an enormous improvement over Pollard, and has a nice 15 footer off the pick and pop. Brown, and soon enough Cassell, gives Boston such a dynamic roster teams will have a very difficult time game planning against them.

I just hope Davis, powe, tA, Rondo, Perk and House continue to get a lot of time. Watching all year and tonight's game I love the energy these guys bring. I still don't think these were necessary moves. I think we had 2 available spots we could fill and we did. Nothing wrogn with that and it gives us insurance and added depth, and doesnt hurt. But we are still 44-12 without these guys and I think we were kind of hard to plan for regardless. Me personally these are solid moves, but I think we are winning a championship if we do the right things come playoff time with or without these 2 guys. The pats signed every guy they could and filled every hole they could but it doesn't mean a whole lot unless you execute when it matters.
The key to these moves imo is that these guys add something whether it's on the court or as leaders on the bench. I don't want to disrupt what we have going and I want to see the guys that have been playing continue to play and hopefully these guys will fit into what we are already doign, and I think they will. I don't think we would have made these moves unless we had a plan to incorporate these guys, without disrupting what is already going on.
