In the past, shutting down Pierce was a way to shut down the Celtics but now, Artest can shut down Pierce and the Celtics still have plenty of weapons. Artest has been playing very well and scored 24 points with nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals in the Kings' loss to Denver on Sunday. With Pierce's new found love of defense, he should be able to slow down Artest as well. In their first matcup this season, Pierce scored 26 while holding Artest to 16. It would be good to see more of the same. Game Notes: The Celtics beat the Kings 90-78 at the Garden in their first matchup this season. In that game, Perk and Pollard both sat out with injuries and Big Baby started. Udrich and Artest were the high scorers for the Kings. The Kings are 5-5 in the last 10 games and are coming off a 106-105 loss to the Nuggets in their last game. The Celtics are coming off an emotional win over the Magic. The Kings are 8-5 at home. This is the first of 4 games in 5 nights on the West coast and the Celtics need to start this road trip out with a win or the naysayers will be out in full force. |

Kings win the tip. Perk with a block and Celtics rebound. KG gets inside for a dunk. Miller misses and Rondo hits a jumper. Kings miss and Celtics rebound. KG hits a long jumper. Moore hits a hook shot over Perk. Moore called for a loose ball foul. Celtics inbound on the side. Artest shuts off Pierce as he uses up most of the clock. Rondo shoots at the SC and Kings rebound. Rondo with a steal and Rondo finds RAy slashing to the hoop for a layup. Moore called for his second foul. RA hits a jumper off the curl. Artest misses a 3. Thomas rebounds. Udrih takes it to the hoop for a layup. PP loses the ball and Kings then throw it away. Perk misses in the paint and Miller rebounds. Udrih misses a jumper. Celtics rebound. PP misses inside. Miller rebounds. Thomas misses and Perk rebounds. RA misses a 3 and Kings rebound. Time out with 5:55 left in the first and celtics up 10-4

KG rebounds the Kings miss from the corner. KG backs in and hits a jumper on the baseline. Kings announcers just said that the Celtics defense is just as good as the Spurs. Udrih hits a jumper. KG misses a jumper. Miller rebounds. Ball is deflected out by Boston. Kings inbound with 13 on the SC. Posey comes in for Perk. Artest misses a 3 and Celtics rebound. Posey misses a 3. Kings erbound. Miller's runner in the lane no good but he is fouled by Posey. Kings inbound on the side. Miller misses a 3 and rebound goes over the backboard to the Celtics. Garcia fouls KG and Garcia pokes the ball away from KG after the whistle and gets a very angry look from KG. Celtics inbound on the side. PP misses a jumper from the FT line and Rondo runs in and grabs the rebound. Celtics miss a jumepr from the corner. Artest takes it down the lane and lays it in. Allen drives down the lane and steps out of bounds. Time out with Celtics up 12-8 and 2:34 left in the first quarter.

That was the sloppiest quarter i've seen us play this year. The spacing was terrible, we were sleepwalking. We must still be recovering from too many christmas cookies.

Picking up with 26 seconds in the half. Celtics up 53-29. Udri8h missses and Rondo comes out of the crowd with the rebound and takes it to the hoop but misses a layup at the buzzer.
Score at the half is Celtics 53 Kings 29

Celtics inbound to start the third and turn it over. KG is poked in the eye as Miller flails his arms after KG deflects the ball. Miller goes to the FT line and hits both FTs. KG brings the ball across and gets it to Rondo. Artest picks off the pass. Udrih gets the ball inside to Miller for a layup. Celtics miss and Kings rebound. Kings turn it over. RA brings it up quickly. Layup no good. Kings come away with it. Kings turn it over. Salmons with a steal and he pulls up and hits a jumper. KIngs slap the ball out of bounds and Celtics inbound on the baseline with 9 on the SC. KG misses a jumper from the FT line and Kings rebound. Udrih misses but Moore is there for the put back. Time out with Celtics up 53-37. Kings start the 3rd with and 8-0 run

Celtics with a 24 second violation. Salmons misses and the rebound comes out to RA. Offensive foul on RA. Perk blocks Udrih's shot. RA called for another offensive foul. Kings have it knocked out of bounds with 3 on the SC. Artest misses a 3 at the SC. and KG rebounds. PP misses a 3 and Perk rebounds but steps out of bounds. Perk called for a technical. Kings make the T to cut the lead to 14. Udrih misses a 3 from the corner. PP rebounds and is fouled. Celtics inbound on the side. KG misses a jumper from the corner. Artest gets the rebound but loses it out of bounds. Celtics inbound on the baseline. PP backs into traffic and then throws it away. Time out with Celtics up 54 - 40 and they have scored just 1 point in the quarter so far. The Kings have scored 11

This game is a game of quarters apparently. We haven't scored. This is ugly. Sac is throwing the kitchen sink at us defensively but we have to play better than this.

Foul on the Kings and Celtics inbound on the side with 14 on the SC. RA hits and draws the foul. He hits the FT. Salmons hits a fall away jumper. KG misses a hook shot and Kings come away with it. Miller lays it in. Lead is cut to 10. KG was fouled on that last shot but no call. Moore called for a foul and Celtics inbound on the side with 14 on the SC. PP drives into the lane and turns it over. Garcia takes it to the hoop and lays it in. KG hits a jumper on the baseline. RA with a steal in the paint. Posey hits a 3 from the corner. garcia misses but the Kings rebound and he gets the ball back as he cuts to the hoop and lays it in. Celtics turn it over. Time out with Celtics up 64-53. I HATE these announcers. They have interviewed a baseball player and a golfer while the game is going on and they have the cameras on them instead of the action in the game. They are talking about tatoos with the golfer while the teams are playing on the floor.

The kings are one of those pesky teams that could upset us. We need to prevent that from happening here.

Tony fouled Garcia as he shoots from the corner. He hits both FTS to cut the lead to 9. House brings the ball up. PP drives to the hoop and misses the layup. Garcia takes it to the hoop and misses a layup but is fouled. He hits the first and misses the second. Pollard rebounds. PP is fouled and goes to the line. PP hits both FTs. Kings miss from the corner. Celtics rebound. PP misses at the buzzer. Score at the end of 3 is Boston 66 and Kings 56.

I just tuned into the game (late 3rd) and maybe I just caught Pierce at the wrong time, but he's making some bad decisions out there. There was a play where he had the ball, held onto it too long, made his drive on the left side, and instead of kicking it out to an open Eddie House, he instead continues to trudge forward, resulting in a stripped ball.
Had he passed it out and had House hit that three, we could have stopped the bleeding some.

Kings have back to back baskets to cut the lead to 5 at the start of the 4th. House hits a 3 from the side. Miller misses and Posey rebounds. Posey hits a 3 from the top of the arc. Pollard out and KG comes in. House misses a 3 and KG rebounds. Celtics turn it over. Artest misses a 3 and KG rebounds. Tony drives to the hoop and lays it in. Kings turn it over. House is way off on a 3 and KG is hit hard and stays on the floor holding his eyes. That is the second time Brad Miller raked KG across the face after the play had stopped. Celtics up 74-61 and 8:29 left in the 4th Miller is a dirty player. First time he got away with raking him across the face and this time at least they called a foul.
