The Boston media is reporting that Brandon Wallace is being released. Doc cited the need for roster flexibility for the move and not his potential. This gives the Celtics 2 roster spots.
Reasons for the move could be wanting to bring in veterans who can help now and rather than keeping a young player who has potential for the future. I wonder what move Danny has up his sleeve next. We could use a good big and a veteran PG. We are fine as long as Rondo doesn't get hurt. If he should be out for any period of time, we would be in trouble.
I had this awful feeling while posting Brandon's photo on LOYs place that maybe Danny was freeing up #8 for Antoine 3.0. Nah.....

Good luck to Brandon; seems like a nice guy. Maybe one day we'll see him in the League.
Don't know what Ainge is up to. We already have one roster spot open. Now we have two with Brandon being waived. I don't think this was a finacial move either, because Brandon was an undrafted free agent rookie, and giving him a contract wouldn't be that big of a deal.
The only thing I can think up is a 3 for 1 deal. But I doubt Ainge, or our managment will move any of or Big Three right now. I'm really curious to see what happens.

Maybe someone like Anderson V or maybe Latrell S. Maybe a sign and trade.

I think that Varejao will sign with someone else, he want money, something that we can't give him Spree.... never on this team, one of my favourites, but I don't see his place, KG will never let this happen, Cassell is something different, for me the right things are Gary Payton and P.J. Brown or Gary Payton and Dale Davis, or Danny Fortson maybe DA will make another big hit with someone like Chris Webber

I thought the Cavs already signed Varejao? Even if he was available i wouldn't want him, he's massively overpaid for what he's worth...Garnett has played with Spree and Cassell..I really wouldn't want Spree on the team but i would love to have Cassell though i'm afraid he'd hinder the minutes on Rondo and his development since he's coming along so nicely now...P.J. Brown would be perfect but i don't think we got the money or something..Payton probably wouldn't be motivated to play..he got his ring and i doubt he wants to come back to Boston now...Danny Fortson has bad character issues so no, and Chris Webber isn't even close to what he used to be so i don't think he'd be that great..he has lost so much quickness, speed, and just skill in my opinion..trade would be hard to pull off also..just wait and see..

But we didn't need to free up Wallace's roster spot to bring in a big man. We already had a roster spot open (we had 14 players on the team, now 13).
It could be that Ainge didn't feel that Wallace was going to amount to much. I'm not high on Wallace's potential. If that's the case, rather than give him a contract, we cut him loose to spare us spending change.

Varejao signed with cleveland and is overrated anyways. My vote goes to Reggie Miller. He just didn't want to play a full season. We are also going to sign another big man. Not sure who... maybe Antoine or Webber. My vote goes for Antoine. hehehe. I think we need a bigger big man than that though. Not sure who it will be. GP is still a possibility. But I think it will be a pg, bigman, or reggie. What we really need is a pg who can distribute when rondo sits for 5 minutes or so. I dont know who that wuold be though..... GP is probably the best one. I can't think of who else may be out there. We also need another big man for when Pollard can't go.

Just another name to throw out there. Scottie Pippen anyone? Scottie wants to come back and wants to play for a contender. I wouldn't be surprised if we sign SCottie and Payton who have been working out together.
Trade TA and powe for ZO. Our bench would look like this
GP House Posey Pippen Baby Scal Zo Pollard
It would be the most ridiculous bench in NBA history. If we get Reggie Miller too we are even more ridiculous. It's not that far fetched. We basically sign GP, Pippen and Miller and trade TA and Powe for Alonzo. And we keep our 3 best bench players so far in House, Posey and Baby in the process. Plus Pollard and Scal who are scrappers and can be put on the IL at any time..

I like Wallace and think he has a significant amount of potential at the 3. That said it would have taken a couple of seasons for him to materialize into anything. I like PJ as another big, but there is nothing out there in free agency good enough to be a backup PG. A trade is possible, and the only way Walker 3.0 happens is if the Wolves buy out his contract.

hah I'll never trade little Allen and Powe for Zo, maybe Powe and a pick, but not both that's a robbery

Well Zo's career may be over, so so much for the Zo thoughts
Dec 19 Mourning tore the patella tendon in his right knee Wednesday, the Miami Herald reports. Recommendation: This is a career-threatening injury for the 37-year-old. Details should shake out in the coming days as to who will back up Shaquille O'Neal with Mourning out.

Seems like a rarity when a player retires going out w/ a championship. Mourning had a solid career in the NBA.
