If Ainge trades Jefferson for KG, I expect to him also sell the whole farm to win right now. Meaning Gerald, Rondo, Gomes, etc, should also be ready to be dealt. If Ainge is trading Jefferson, I think its because management is forcing him to do so, in which case, I expect Ainge to throw the whole future out the door to put out the most talent laden lineup he can for a shot to win right now--and then I expect Ainge to bolt Boston and leave the future in question.
Its not fair that Ainge has had to work so hard to accumulate so much young talent, only to have management force him to trade away our future so that we can have a short run at the championships. Sure, we may be able to win a title or two, and that should make us happy for awhile, but our future is crippled once again, and it may take another 20 years for us to regain respectability.

Sounds like something could be going down in the next 48 hours. Get ready because KG could be a Celtic real soon.
Oh, by the sounds of it, we may have to give up Rajon Rondo as well. Like I told you, if Ainge is being forced to trade Jefferson, don't be surprised if other of our young core players are traded too.
Another source says that we'll keep Rajon, and give up Telfair instead. But I think Gerald Green will be thrown in, in this proposal.
Either way, we'll be losing Jefferson and Rajon, or Jefferson and Gerald.
WHY IN THE WORLD DO WE HAVE TO DO THIS??? We can build a strong future around Jefferson, Gerald, and Rajon. Maybe Gerald may not pan out, but Jefferson and Rajon look like they will.

OK, maybe the plan is to give up Jefferson for this year, and sign him back when he's a free agent. But both Jefferson and McHale have to commit to this plan.

If we are trading away Rajon, we better be getting Randy Foye in return.

Oh I see it on ESPN. That sucks. I don't think Ainge is being forced to do this though. I also dont think we give up Rajon. I think we will give up JEfferson or Rajon. Do I like it? No I dont...... If we trade JEfferson we aren't getting him back. It sucks because Jefferson is such a good low post player but I think Ainge is trying to put the best team on the court and Jefferson is not in Garnett's league so I can understand it from that perspective..... It's stupid though.

It basically says the deal is Telfair, GG, JEfferson and Ratliff for GArnett. If it gets Garnett's sign off more players may be added or subtracted. It's a fair deal. I really hate trading jefferson though...... We should win a championship or 2 and but our young core outside of Rondo, Perk, Gomes, Big Baby, Powe have been evaporated. But maybe their thinking is to put the best 3 players they can on the court and then have roleplayers which those guys basically are. Pierce, Allen, Garnett surrounded by roleplayers like Rondo, Perk, Gomes, Big BAby and Powe would be very good for 3 or 4 years......

It just doesn't have Ainge's fingerprints, though. He's going from a standpoint of building with our youths, to totally trading them away for players who are not far from the downside of their careers.
What does he plan to do once Pierce, R-Allen, and KG are no the big time players they are now? When that happens, we'll have little star talent to replace them.

Draft more players.... Thats the thing with ainge is he isnt going to lose his drafting ability. He can always draft another jefferson. I do think this has ainge's fingerprints on it somewhat. when he first came in he talked about trading for star players and he has been trying to do that all along ala Iverson, Marion, etc..... I think Ainge has confidence in his drafting ability where he can draft youth and trade it for stars.....
As a fan I hate this because I'd much rather build through the draft and think longterm, but I think Ainge thinks you have to see your window and go with it. It sucks because you get attached to these guys and you want them to succeed in a celtics uniform.

When we traded for Allen I kind of could see this coming. There are reasons why we hung onto these large contracts and didnt just let walker walk away imo. We bascially traded Blount and all those guys and kept the payroll high so we can trade for a big time star and Garnett has been the plan all along imo. This is Ainge's plan. We basically are cashing in our chips and adding Allen and GArnett to pair with Pierce.
I can understand it from that perspective. If we trade Rondo along with Jefferson that is going overboard. We do not need to trade both. I'm not saying I like this either. But I do understand it. If we sit on Jefferson with allen and Pierce we are going to stuck as a midlevel team. Pierce Allen retire and we still are a midlevel team with the likes of Jefferson and Rondo leading this charge. This is the type of deal that puts us over the top.

Seriously Derren, I can understand why you would be upset. I am too. But think about it..... If you could imagine a team of Pierce, RAy Allen and Kevin Garnett a few years back being this team, surrounded by solid roleplayers I think we'd all be estatic. IF this goes down look what Ainge has done without playing favortism. Do you have any idea how absurd a team we would have? Jefferson is not half the defensive player or just force GArnett is nor are we winning a championship with this current team.
PG-Rondo SG-Allen SF-Pierce PF-Garnett C-Perkins
is a ridiculous team with Gomes, Big Baby Powe and whoever else we can put on the bench.

It's official? I guess... draftexpress.com/ "Multiple sources close to the situation told DraftExpress Sunday that the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves have come to terms on a trade sending Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in a package including Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, and Theo Ratliff." Eep...I don't know what to make of it. If that's the deal we are winning a championship this year and ticket sales are going to be through the roof.

draftexpress.com/blogs.php?blogid=8"Multiple sources close to the situation told DraftExpress Sunday that the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves have come to terms on a trade exchanging Kevin Garnett for a package including Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, and Theo Ratliff. The exact details of the trade aren’t known at this point, but it is believed that the deal will be completed shortly with similar parameters. This deal has been rumored for most of the summer, but according to sources with direct knowledge of the situation, the main hold up had been the negotiation of a contract extension for Garnett. According to this source, Garnett’s camp is asking for a 5 year extension worth 125 million dollars. Whether or not the two parties have altered the initial proposal or agreed to it is not known, but apparently some accord has been reached. Garnett has an opt-clause in his contract for next season that he has essentially been using as leverage to get traded and secure his financial future with the team that acquires his services. It had been widely assumed that the initial deal between the clubs had fallen through when Garnett’s agent publicized that his client was not interested in going to Boston. But circumstances seem to have progressed since that stage, to the point where one prominent player on the Celtics responded to inquiry by stating the team was “winning the Eastern Conference” next season, after having learned of Garnett’s imminent arrival. This move signifies a major power shift in the Eastern Conference. Garnett joins veterans Paul Pierce and Ray Allen to form arguably the best trio in the NBA. The team now has three potential Hall of Fame players in their prime to contend in a conference that is wide open. Each player is over 30 years of age, but should remain effective for the life of their deals. Executive Director of Basketball Operations chief Danny Ainge has mortgaged a sizable portion of the team’s long-term future to secure a title contending team however. Jefferson was recently selected by USA Basketball as one of the rising stars in the league and is only 22 years of age. The team will have to rely on their faith in the All Star veterans’ abilities to maintain a high level of performance deep into their 30’s. If KG, Pierce, and Allen can duplicate the career longevity of Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, and Reggie Miller for example, the Celtics will have a larger window to work with. Ainge has been highly scrutinized for his apparent lack of organizational direction these past few years, but his patience looks to have paid off. His commitment to acquiring young assets and parlaying them into more established stars has come to fruition. The team is scheduled to hold training camp overseas this season, so the timing was flawless for a move that is sure to re-invigorate the sizable international fan base. The team is sure to enjoy a sizable increase in national media attention as well. The team didn’t have a single network game scheduled last season. That should change this year." 5 years 125 is unbelievable......... i dont know if this is real or what? Where would this information come from though? 25 mil a year..... we better win and win lots...

The one thing that I do like is the idea that our (supposed) big three are in very similair situations. They are close in age, they've made their millions, and none of them seem to have any off the court drama in their lives. To me it seems like we'd have three guys in the prime of their careers ready to do what it takes to win a champeenship.
