If you were Danny in this scenario what would you do? I have a feeling the C's are definately scrambling a bit as we all are. I don't know what we should do. We should be able to add a good player regardless. Should we keep the pick? And who would you select. Or try to trade the pick and bring in someone. I like what Danny said about not sacrificing talent and I'd hate to do that here. If we can bring in a Brendon Wright, Horford, Hawes or Yi is that the best case scenario? I'd like this team to have some direction for once and I'd hate for us to add another wing or another player that doesnt fit and we are looking to trade. I really want this team to be in good shape come the start of next season, not sitting there with too many wings or pf's and not enough centers, etc, like we have been.

Lol!!! This WILL be Doc and Danny's last years here..Coz the Cs are gonna be lotto bound next year too...In the meantime we can all enjoy West learning to dribble with his right hand, Al learning what a defensive rotation means, Perkins learning how not to foul, Rondo learning to shoot, Green learning a lil about bball IQ and so on... AWESOME!!

One thing we should definitely do is make calls to GMs Colangelo and Dumars and say "How much money would you want to come here? Just a ballpark number? Just curious. You know, for future reference"

I say we should pack the team up and move them to some obscure small city in the Northwest...say Juneau, Alaska. Then, because we get no exposure, and noone outside of our home city cares about our team, we'll probably come out of nowhere in some future, retarded draft lottery, designed to make bad teams worse and mediocre teams better, and score the top pick.

My thinking is that the team needs a player that will not be project, but can make an immediate contribution. Example - plays defense; rebounds. W/ that said, Noah or Hortford.

This is a tough decision to make. I think we are definitely at a fork in the road. We have to make the decision whether to stick with our youth movement, or go all out for a playoff push right away. More than ever, I feel we have to make this decision, and it can't be both ways.
I've been thinking about our players, and realistically gauging their value, and here's how our young players stack up.
Delonte: nice combo guard who has become a cult favorite in Boston for various reasons. But if he were on the Spurs or the Mavs or the Pistons (which is the level we want to reach), Delonte is a 7th or 8th man.
Gomes: Ryan has definitely raised his value, but if he were with the Spurs, Mavs, or Pistons, he's not a starter either.
Allen: He played like a borderline star last season before his injury, and if he returns to that level, he'd draw interest from the Spurs, Mavs, and Pistons. But I'm not so sure he'd crack their starting lineup either--not without a consistent jumper.
Perkins: There's always a need for big bodied bangers who like to play defense. But I don't see Perkins cracking the starting lineup for the Spurs, Mavs, or Pistons either.
Gerald: I get the same type of feeling about Gerald that I felt for Big Al, and if my premonition is right this time, Gerald is going to have a coming out party this season. When Gerald finally arrives, he may crack the lineup for the Spurs, Mavs, and Pistons.
If we decide to ditch the youth movement and acquire players who can impact the game more (Garnett, JO, Gasol, etc.), we need to drop a bunch of our youths who aren't starters for contending teams and trade them for bigger talents.

I say stay with the youth movement. We have stuck with the kids this far and they are ready to take the next step. Perk may not have broken the starting lineup in those places last season, but he will this season. He is going to break out. J Oneal in his 4th season didn't do much at all and was traded to Indy and he didn't even have the injury problems that Perk did. Perk is going to break out this season. We will be sorry if we give him up.
Gerald has a huge upside and once he finally gets it, he is going to be an all star. We have stuck with him for two seasons and I agree with Derren, he is going to break out sooner rather than later.
Tony will get back to that level. Plus we have a chance at a very good addition through the draft. I would rather trade Pierce than most of our young players. I don't want to see them becoming perennial all stars while whoever we get is out with injuries or too old to help us any more. Been there and done that.

I say keep the pick and add Horford or Yi, which would give us a solid three man rotation at the C and PF. Rondo, West and Allen give us a promising back-court, and Pierce/Gomes/Wally man the SG, with Green eventually exploding into the lineup once Wally's contract is up in 2 years.
Yes, I am an optimist, but I also like our young players and would like to stick with the youth movement. IMO our 20+ year drought is in large part due to too many failed quick fixes plus some bad drafts. Now that we have someone who seems to draft well, we should stick with building through the draft.

I don't see DA being able to get a good big man in a trade. And that is what he needs. If Milicec is turning into a player, sign him. And draft the best big man available.
