He hasn't proven himself to nearly the level of Perk even. (ok maybe that's a stretch but you know what I mean). Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice and I'm a frickin moron. He already got paid for potential. You'd have to be idiotic to do it again. Someone should just make a spreadsheet and plug in the pay of all the power forwards in the league that averaged what he averaged over the last two years, and then pay him the average of the top 5 of those players. I don't know how incentives work, but they could add that. Anyone who does more than that is playing potential-roulette.

Again, its hard to see that this kid still has potential, since he hasn't proven anything in his 4 year career to this time. But don't just listen to what I'm saying--Clifford Ray is saying the exact same thing, and his opinion is what carries weight. He was there when Darko came to Orlando and he must have seen the potential in this kid.
I've seen a bit of Darko over the years, and what I saw was a 7 footer who has the ability to go inside and out. He's a fluid 7 footer who has a nice shooting touch, craftiness to work inside the paint, a good body to be a solid rebounder, and a terrific shot blocker. Not many people realize this about Darko, but he's an underrated shot blocker. In barely over 20 mpg, he's close to a 2 bpg guy. This is when he's playing shotty minutes. When he gets regular minutes and gets comfortable on the court, he's going to be a 3 bpg guy.
Here is a two way player who is only going to be 22 years old when the '08 season starts.
Like Bos mentioned in a previous post, Darko is going to be a restricted free agent, meaning he has a team option, so we can possibly work out a trade to get him. Its been publicized that the Magic are looking for a PG and a shooter, and though they are going to keep Jammer Nelson, they may still be interested in a PG. Well, we still own the rights to Sebastian Teflair, and I believe they were one of the teams interested in his services. Why not trade Telfair and Ratliff's expiring contract to Orlando for Darko? That way, we'll have a year to hold onto Darko and see what he can do. If we don't feel he'll work out, we don't have to re-sign him.

If the salaries matched I guess I'd do that

It looks like the salaries are hard to match. Darko makes like 5 and Theo makes 11.7 not to mention Bassys 1.7. Maybe Scala instead. They could add something in like Pat Garrity who made 3.5 last year but it's still not close enough and I think his contract could be up. They could send James Augustine and possible Bo Outlaw and we could cut them but Augustine has two years left, and i think Outlaw's contract might be up. This just seems like a hard trade. I guess they could find a way if the really wanted to

If we were to sign a Darko, it would really hamper our ability to keep most of our youngns. We'd be looking at an immedeate future of PP, AlJeff, Wally, and Darko making big to decent money. Between PP, AlJeff, Darko, and Perk, we'd have about 45 million wrapped up. That's a huge chunk of change. It would be damn difficult to wrap up GG, TA, DW, and RG long term. hell, its going to be hard to wrap these guys up w/o darko. that's why i'd like to see us package some of these dudes for the right vet.

Also, our draft pick would play a factor in our decision to bring Milicic here. If we don't land a top 2 pick, and instead end up with a SF like Julian Wright or Corey Brewer, getting Darko will be good (we need more help at the 5).
But if we land Oden, or Hawes, Hibbert, Jianlian, etc., gettind Darko is not as much of a deal.
