Celtics inbound and bring it up. Green hits a jumper. Green with a block but called for a goal tend. Telfair hits a jumper off the catch. Jackson misses and Armstrong called for a foul on the rebound. Ray hits a 3 off the catch. Butler hits a 3. Ray misses a jumper and Green flies in but misses the put back. Hornets rebound and turn it over. Powe hits a jump hook in the lane. Hornets running out the clock and Celtics get a steal and Green was taking it to the basket and is fouled. He hits both FTs. Hornets inbound and hold it as time runs out. Final score is Hornets 106 and Celtics 88. We started off strong but when Doc went to the bench in the second quarter, they seemed to lose all chemistry and couldn't hit a shot. After that, we couldn't seem to get it back. We just couldn't buy a basket.

I believe this game was meant to be lost--I can't put it any other way. We threw this game away in a way that appeared to be a tank job.
In the 1st quarter, we played like a team capable of winning this game. But then the 2nd quarter came and Doc put in an entirely new lineup, which had disaster written all over it (because of its inexperience). Kandi, Powe, Green, Ray and Delonte were the 5 Doc ran with and they struggled mightily and we fell behind big time. Doc didn't pull this lineup out immediately. He allowed them to fall behind royally (close to a 20 pt deficit). It wasn't until our egos were totally deflated when Doc put the starters back in--but by this time, the momentum was clearly in their hands.
In the 3rd quarter, we could have made a comeback if we played smart and efficiently worked each possession, but we totally bombed. Pierce was trying to take over, but did a poor job. Rather than going into Jefferson, we kept trying to shoot our way back into the game, and it wasn't working. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that we went 20 consecutive possessions without even letting Jefferson sniff the basketball. That's just poor judgment--and Doc should have called a timeout to square things up.
