I don't see why we need to tank. What does this team really need? We have Pierce, Jefferson, and a solid group of roleplayers in West, Rondo, Gomes, Powe, and Perk. A solid 12th man in Scal and an up and comer in Green. That's 9 players right there. And most teams need a 9 man rotation. Scal should not be playing so much and we need to get another stud in here, but other than that I don't really see what we need except experience and a team concept and guys understanding their roles. We also have Allen coming back from injury. We have Wally who is injured. We haev Telfair who really sucks right now, but has potential. We have the guys to fill the roles we need imo. We basically need one stud and experience.
Unless we win the lottery I still say Ainge is going to trade the pick and Wally/Ratliff for Gasol. Maybe Telfair or Gomes will get thrown in the deal. Pierce, Jefferson, Gasol is the makings of a very good team imo. AFter this offseason i'm guessing we either have Oden or Gasol when it's all said and done.

The thing with Oden is he is a very similar player to Jefferson except even moreso of an interior presence. I'm not sure if we would go with the Duncan/Robinson approach and have 2 guys that are interior forces like that but I don't see why it wouldn't work, but there is an outside chance that if we get Oden which I don't think we will that we trade Jefferson. There's also a chance that we trade our pick + Jefferson for the #1 pick and draft Oden if we don't get the #1.

I think a lot of people get the impression that Oden is supposed to be a big scorer, but he really isn't. I don't believe he's projected to be a scoring force, but a legitimate dominating defensive force. I foresee 15/12/4 (pts, rebs, blocks).
CF, I've pondered that myself. We have a lot of our pieces already in place and don't necessarily need a Durant or an Oden to challenge for a title (but it will help greatly). I think even if we get Noah or Hawes, we can still compete for a championship down the line. I don't think we can challenge for a championship with what we have right now--I think we are missing a really good big man and possibly a defensive minded SF (preferably a tall and lanky one). So I'd like to pursue these pieces via the draft.

I think we could use Durant more than Oden cause we also have Al J, Perk, and Powe and I don't think Oden can be better than AL J right away at all. He may even have to do some work to pass Perk if he's healthy

Oden will definately be an offensive force in the NBA. It amy take a few years, but he will be a 20+ ppg. Check out his offensive numbers compared to the numbers of other premier big men's numbers when they were freshman. Oden is def. ahead of the curve. And throw in the fact that he is/was playing with one hand this year. Dude is going to be scary.

Nice to see another win where our young players (this time Jefferson and West) played such a prominent role. The more they learn to win now, the sooner it will take for them to develop into a playoff team.

Durning the game there was an add for a Kia Rondo. It was sign I tell you Welcome to Rondoism! I loved it when Rondo brought the ball up the floor on our last possession in regulation. Frank was yelling to foul and they were chasing Rondo but he was so quick they couldn't catch him to foul him and he found an open West for that 3 to tie. West hit the shot but without Rondo's speed and presence of mind, he wouldn't have gotten the ball.
