to be supporting the worst team in the NBA?
to be supporting one of the worst teams of all time?
to be completely baffled and blown away by their struggles?
to be the victims of complete and total bad luck?
I for one am in complete shock and frankly it is hurting me physically as well as emotionally. But in observing the NBA this year, every other team is simply better than the Celtics and it is not even close, really. We needed to fire Doc to save ourselves from total embarrassment.
We are relying our future on a little green marble going into the #1 or #2 spot and hoping that Oden and Durant decide to go professional. That is luck. You know what people say about luck.
Paul Pierce had a marvelous year last year and that got us 33 wins. Paul Pierce is playing poorly this year and has missed 1/3 of the season due to his injured foot. Look at the Celtics now.
Danny Ainge told Chad Ford we never intended to get this young? What is Danny Ainge saying?
The ownership is behind Danny and Doc 100% and claim they will break even this year? That has got to be some of the best marketing of the Celtics name ever done. Maybe they are making money off Red Auerbach endorsed cigars or more likely Legal's Seafood is paying the bill here.
I love to be optimistic and drinking the green kool-aid but I certainly wasn't born yesterday. It will take a lot more than drafting Greg Oden to turn this pig around.
I'm thirsty, please pass the green kool-aid and please hold the vodka.

you're right. It would take Oden, and about 2 to three more years of development from him, Al J, GG, and Rondo. Anything from Delonte, Gomes, Perk, Powe, TA, and Bassy or any new draft picks would be a plus. We can't expect to turn around instantly like San Antonio did cause for one thing Oden might not be anywhere near as good as Duncan and also cause David Robinson and Sean Elliot were already developed, whereas we only have PP and maybe Wally. maybe. Plus Lebron didn't change Cleveland overnight. D Howard is still working on Orlando Emeka has a ways to go in charlotte Atlanta keeps drafting so high I'm beginning to think someday they'll get good randomly despite themselves Same thing for Golden State Plus Memphis is picking high too as well as some other teams this year and next
Nothing is guaranteed
We're bad so we go thru what bad teams go thru. Draft anxiety and future anxiety

If you wouldve told me that Pierce and Wally going miss significant time last this year, I wouldve penciled us in at around 20 wins this year. I also wouldve done a backflip out of excitement because this is exactly what this team needs. I'd much rather have a 60 loss season with on of the best drafts in history coming up over a 35-40 win season where we get nothing accomplished besides insurung we dont get a great player in the draft.
But also, on positive note, I never wouldve predicted that AlJeff would be averaging 11 boards a game right now.

So many people are writing off Perk just like they did Al last season. Perk got little or no playing time before we traded Blount. Then after Blount was traded he got decent minutes and was really looking good and then he injured his shoulder. And he had surgery in the off season so really couldn't work till just before the season and now he has plantar fasciitis. Normally a player would sit and let it heal but Perk has been playing through it and so hasn't been able to really show what he can do. He is going to be a solid center. If we get Oden, maybe a back up center, but he will be a solid player. Don't write him off.
I would never in my wildest nightmares have thought that this team would be in this position. But injuries all season have messed with the chemistry and learning curve of the young players. Doc's bizarre rotations and the way he yanks these kids around has to mess with their confidence.
Case in point. Doc puts Leon in a game and afterwards says how well he played and that he is going to get a lot more playing time. He starts him against Utah and plays him 25 minutes and he produces and plays great. Then he starts him against Houston and plays him 3 minutes and then sits him the rest of the game even though he did nothing to deserve being benched for the rest of the game. He did the same with Rondo. Said he would be getting a lot more playing time. Started him and then even though he did nothing to deserve being demoted, benched him and now his playing time has been jerked around 5 minutes here, 7 there, 20 the next game, etc. How in the world can they know their roles or gain any confidence?

That just drives me nuts, FL. Rajon needs to be on the court, plain and simple. Delonte needs to get back to being a shooter, plain and simple. Play Rajon and Telfair at the Point, and not only that, but let them try to create some offense for the team!!! Run some pick and roll plays, run some backdoor plays, run more--anything!!!
Scal is playing too much. I complained about Doc not using Scal the right way last year--but this year, he's doing it again by playing Scal too much. You put him out there for too long and his warts become exposed.

In terms of Perk has any player ever recovered from what he is going thru? Like they had a horrid season, then got healthy, then got good again? I hope so.

Like what FL was saying, Perk is a better player than what he is showing us right now. I'm not as high on Perk as FL is, but he's not a bust or some flop. Even with his bad foot, he's out there blocking shots and that's what I hope we get from him. He can really be a valuable bench player with his interior defense and rebounding.

Tim Duncan had plantar fasciitis a couple of years ago and they had to shut him down for quite a awhile because he was playing terrible with the injury. And he came back strong and hasn't been bothered by it since that I know of. They gave Perk a couple of weeks off and then brought him back 60% and he hasn't had a chance to get back to 100% because he has been playing hurt and you need to rest PF to get it better all the way.
