Spring is in the air. And the 2007 - 2008 Celtics start their spring training in Houston Tx Monday night with hopefully a new coach. Paul Pierce goes off for 45 points and the Celtics pull the upset of the season. Fresh off this momentum, and with Powe and Jefferson becoming the new EC twin battering rams and Pierce, Green, and Rondo on the wings with West Gomes and Perkins coming off the bench The Celtics finish the season with three losses the rest of the way and grab the 8th seed and go on to win the 2007 NBA title that dwarfs what the Red Sox did in 2004. FLCeltfan and Derren pass the Green Koolaid please :-X

In all seriousness - lets say Doc sticks it out to the end of the year and the players don't make waves, but only win 5 more games to finish 18 and 64 and finish 30th...... Does Pierce stay with the program even though Danny cannot find the veteran help Pierce wants? Danny has a heckuva a lot of decisions to make at the end of the season. He has developed a disturbing pattern of extending his best employees (except for Antione which Danny was determined to get rid of at all costs) only to have to replace or trade them a short time later. Each time we got worse. Retrades have been disasterous. Obrien resigned when we traded for RD. Blount was extended and then he tanked on Doc Rivers. Result Danny makes a house cleaning trade for Wally Z. Finally the mother of all financial deals took place in LaFrentz, #7, and Dickau for Ratliffe and Telfair. Why not just take Rondo at #7 if Danny liked him so much? He is looking like a good pick no matter where you took him. I had no problem with LaFrentz as our starting Center who could should outside while Jefferson, Allen, Pierce, and whomever would punish down low. The Celtics would still not be an any contention but perhaps a minor trade could have been engineered at the trading deadline.
The Celtics did not go on this downward spiral by accident I feel. I think Danny knew from scouting reports that 2007 to 2010 drafts would be excellent and that the Celtics best chance to restore the winning tradition was to take advantage of those drafts and do it by building tradeable assets. That is why we are so young and have in effect become a farm team having to play against real NBA clubs. He is just using Doc to develop young players. Meanwhile Grousebeck appeals to the new school Celtics fan by putting on a show for them but the disgruntleds are the sons of the old schoolers that occupied Boston Garden for many years.
In my situation, my career early on forced my to leave Massachusetts but I would show up when the Celtics were traveling through places like Seattle, Portland, and Los Angelos. I might be polite and show up in Oklahoma March 19 but I am not expecting much. Now I simply vent my frustration on places like here and on that Celticsstufflive Sunday night show.
I will continue to drop in and make comments about the Celtics play but my expectations of 18 and 64 finish is about right. Doc Rivers is being exposed as a horrible NBA coach and should go back in the TNT studios where he belongs starting next fall.
Thank you for reading.
