I say yes. I think for this team to really take that step to being contenders we need a defensive presence in the middle. That is really what this team is missing. I think if Oden were to come in we'd start to see things really start to change for the better. But getting Oden isn't a sure thing. Just wondering what people think we should do if we don't have a shot at him? Or should we go all out and try to get this guy?

I also don't understand why Doc doesn't play Perk more and keeps going with these small lineups that can't play a lick of defense. Perk, Jefferson, Pierce is potentially a pretty strong front line. I don't get it. I'd really like to see a lineup of Rondo, Green, Pierce, Jefferson, Perk. I think that is our best potential lineup right now.... We are losing anyways, I'm pretty much at the point where who cares if we'd have an inexperienced tandem of Rondo and Green. Might as well play these guys. Green and Rondo have had half a year to learn some things and it's time to play them imo.

I think this team needs new management more than they need Greg Oden. I do not like the philosophy of Danny Doc and Wyc Grousebeck. It simply doesn't work. The players fit very, very poorly and that reflects badly on the coaching staff. Witness this shameful display in Sacremento.

See this is what bothers me Jefferson comes in and Perk goes out. I don't understand why we don't play Jefferson and Perk together. It makes no sense. I don't mind the backcourt of Rondo and West so much and have TElfair and Green come off the bench, its the small lineups that drive me nuts. We suck on d because of this.

I don't care if we are trying to match up against Ron Artest adn their smaller lineup. How about matching up against us? If we had Duncan do we bench Al, because we are trying to matchup? This is a losing mentality I can't stand.

Yes, this team needs Greg Oden--if we want a dynasty. But like I mentioned in another thread, we don't need Greg Oden to win a championship. All we really need is a smart, big bodied 7 footer who can collect 10 rpg and provide us with excellent garbage points (offensive putbacks). And there are a number of options to choose from--Noah, Hawes, Gray and Brad Miller.
I just don't think Perkins has the capacity to fill this role. His niche will be as a rugged rebounder off the bench and a solid shot blocking presence.
I really don't know why Doc doesn't use Jefferson and Perk on the court together. Maybe because Perk crowds the middle and clogs Jefferson's space to work (I'm just grabbing for straws).
