Tanking never improved any team.
Usually made them worse. I advise the Celtics to go out and try to match last years record. We need to feel good about next year with the excitement of getting a new coach and getting a good player in the draft and more importantly not lose those kids.
If we finish 18 and 64 and Pierce sits out the last month, what message is that sending to the fans?
We are not interesting in competing anymore.
Look we only get a 25% maximum chance of getting Oden and if he stays in school, we're screwed anyway.
Come on Celtics, solve your problems internally or Ainge will solve them for you (the Donald method).
Now read the bottom line of messages and learn something.

Tanking never improved any team. I think the Spurs have three NBA championship trophies that would disagree with this.

Losing David Robinson for the year didn't help either.

I don't know if I can say the Cavs tanked, but they have this player named Lebron that they think is kinda good. I don't think playing the kids to develop them, instead of trying to play Wally 40 mins a game to try to eek out every win is exactly tanking.

Losing David Robinson for the year didn't help either. There season was shot after losing DRob so early in the season. But the word is he couldve came back and played the last month of the season. THey had several injured players that year, and some of them couldve been brought back to finish out the end of the season.

In regards to the Spurs, I thought they also lost Sean Ellliot that year to injury as well. OK, if we want to tank, here is the plan: play Wally, and Telfair 40minutes a game.

SO the Spurs lost Sean Elliot, Dave Robinson, and one other key component. The fact is we have no better than a 25% chance at Greg Oden. What else is there? I think there is a 75% chance the Celtics are screwed until 2010 and Pierce will demand a trade this summer.

The fact of the matter is the Spurs tanked, got a HOFer, and have multiple titles to show for it. It amy only be a 25% chance, but when the prize is a once-in-a-generation 7 footer, thats a chance we need to tank, er, I mean take. Also, the #2 pick this year will be oustanding as well. That gives the worst team in the league a 46 or 47 percent chance to nab a franchise-changing player.
