AWESOME!!! The dunk over Nate was classic!!! The first one in the finals was a bit lame but that last one was great. I thought the best one was the dunk over Nate, though and should have gotten a 50. But I am glad that he won it. Karma to C17 for the commentary. I was so nervous that i was shaking... But Gerald nailed every one of them. Woohoo!!!!

You gotta love that!! Gerald loves the limelight. He doesn't shy away when all the eyes are on him, and he seems to do even better. That's self confidence and moxie. That's what the good ones have.
I was impressed with his first dunk. It caught me off guard because I really had no idea what he and Pierce had up their sleeves. Give credit to Pierce for putting the ball squarely off the side of the backboard for Green to flush it. It wasn't an overly difficult jam, but the creativity was what sold it.
His next dunk was a crowd pleaser. The crowd was really into it because of all the antics that went on right before he did the vintage Dee Brown Dunk (pumping his shoes, throwing off his jersey to reveal his Dee Brown #7 jersey, Pierce bringing out a Nate Robinson picture board, and the real Nate replacing the replica). The whole arena was waiting in anticipation.
The third dunk wasn't impressive at all. I mean, with all the high wire act that Gerald can pull off, throwing down a two-handed dunk isn't too impressive--even with Pierce lobbing a high pass from behind the backboard.
His final dunk was alright (windmill dunk jumping over a table), but not one that I will always talk about.
Overall, I think he's a lot better dunker than what he showed tonight, and if he had to face Josh Smith or Andre Iguodala in this competition, I don't know if he would have won.
But as his body develops more and his coordination rounds out, I think he'll be an elite dunker.

Just found this and it impressed me. D Howard is an exceptional young man. I feel that he was cheated on that sticker dunk. It was awesome but once again, Nate got the vote because of his height. It should have been for creativity, which Howard had and Nate didn't. Thought I would share this here instead of news since it is on the contest and because it impressed me enough that it shouldn't be buried on the News page as an afterthought.

It was a good slam dunk contest. Gerald's 1st two dunks were definately his best. Supposedly Green had asked Dee Brown originally to jump over and do the dee brown dunk but Dee was working so they made a cardboard cutout of nate instead. I think that's hilarious. You have to give Nate credit for being a class guy and having fun with it, he basically handed the dunk contest over to Green when he went out there and let Green dunk over him. Howard got cheesed but having Nate and Green in the finals made sense.

NBA-TV just showed a clip from practice of Dwight Howard's reported Kiss the Rim dunk and all I can say is that Gerald got lucky that Howard wasn't in the finals with him.
