sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/bos/statsIf everyone was healthy we'd have a decent nucleus. PP 26 pts per game, Wally 15, Al J, 14 and 11. Gomes 12 and 6. Delonte 10 and 5. Allen was really coming on until he got hurt. Things could be worse. We definately need Rondo, Telfair, Green and Perk to step up and we need another stud or 2 in here, and to actually win a game, but it's not that bad..... 6 guys in double figures. Green on the verge. Could be worse.

Would you say we are the best team that gets the #1 pick ever? I'd say a serious argument can be made for yes. PP doesn't match up to David Robinson but the rest of the team matches up well.

Maybe. I do thnk Wally has really had a crap year though. He's shooting 41% and can't even stay healthy long enough to get on the floor. He's pretty much become useless and we really need to start looking elsewhere. I was thinking he'd be a good starter, then a good 6th man, and now he's just crap. For a guy that was supposed to be our 2nd option to Pierce and a guy we could rely on for scoring, he's anything but that. So those numbers are deceiving in a way.

I'm pretty confident that if we land a big time Center we'll be on our way. I'm with Derren in that regard. We do need some things to work out though. Like I said Rondo, Telfair, Green, Perk need to step up. We need Allen to come back and be his old self. I'm not so much with the people that think we need to trade PP. Maybe for the right price, but I just hope Ainge doesn't overthink things here. I think we get a big time center in the draft we have a good roster with Pierce. The thing is it's no sure thing if we will be able to do that with our pick, but it's pretty close to that. There are several good big men that are worth considering. Say we end up with the #2, we can still take Durant and play Jefferson and Durant down low although it might be a little horky, and we might get muscled, but we would definately be a fast team. Or we can trade the pick for someone like Gasol, or draft another big man if we dont get Oden.

Right now I see we have two potential franchise pieces in Pierce and JEfferson. The other guard/sf is a lot of questions but we have talent with Wally, Green, Allen. The pg is the same thing. We have Rondo, West, Telfair. Center is the one big . We have Perk who could be good, but we really need someone else there. The way this team is losing getting the Center we need might be the easy part, but putting it all together once we have all these players in place, might be the part that takes some patience.

Right, we are a stud big man away from being a contending team. Let me rephrase that--we are a big man and a couple of key players reaching their potential away from being a contending team. Even with Oden, we still won't be a complete team until Gerald and Tony reach their potential (Tony was closing in on that goal). And either Telfair or Rondo need to become one of the league's better PG's.
We need 3 of our 5 starters to be better than their counterparts every night in order to be a contending team, and the rest of the team needs to be at least as good as the guys they are playing against.
-Oden's defense is going to be better than whoever he's playing against -Jefferson is most likely going to put up a double double against whoever he goes up against -Pierce is going to be better than almost anyone he goes up against
Gerald has the makings of being a tough offensive player who'll be hard to stop. Gomes is tough to stop when he's hitting his 18 footers, plus he's a solid garbage player. Rondo is a hard player to guard because of his quickness and athleticism, and he's a plus defender. If he develops a steady jumper, he'll be included with Oden, Jefferson and Pierce in the list above. If Tony is relegated to the bench because of the emergence of Gerald Green, he'll be one of the better bench wing players in the league. Same for Perkins--he'll give us solid big man depth off the bench.

Do we even need Oden? I'm pretty confident this team will do alright if we get a capable hardworking defensive minded guy at that position to go with Perk. So Pierce is back.. Say we end up doing fairly well the rest of the way and end up with a pick in the top 5-10 or so. Getting someone like Thabeet or trading the pick for Gasol wouldn't be bad either.

I'm pretty confident Gerald is going to be a really good player. Same with Tony when he comes back. I like our pg depth too. We just need a big guy. We have a good pick. I dont see why we have to trade Pierce to get that. Even if we dont end up with the #1 we are still going to be able to get the big guy we need. Perk is going to improve too....

See, that's what I've been trying to say--trading for Gasol isn't a bad thing. We aren't guaranteed to get Oden, or even Durant. Its a chance we are taking that the balls will land our way. I honestly hope we can get Oden because he's our missing piece, but if we miss out and get like the 4th pick, we would have been better off trading away for Gasol because he's already better than Brandon Wright or Al Horford, and they may never reach his level.
We'll start playing better when Pierce is back in game shape and the rust is shaken off, and our chances of landing Oden will decrease.
A frontcourt combo of Gasol and Jefferson will be better than Utah's Okur/Boozer or Miami's Shaq/Haslem, and San Antonio's Duncan/Elson. That gives us a good base to compete with.

I was watching Noah last nite and I am pretty optimistic about him. I was feeling like I might want to kill myself if we don't get #1 or 2, but now that I think about it I'd be optimistic if we picked Noah #3 and then be in a wait and see mode if we pick Brandan Wright #4. After that I'm pretty nervous. We might as well go Thabeet and just hope for the best. Might as well gamble at that point. Or try to trade up maybe.

I agree... Gasol is a good option if we dont get the #1 or 2 pick. Do you think our pick for Gasol would work though? Why would Memphis do that? We'd have to give Wally to match salaries and someone else, plus our pick to get him I'm assuming.

I like Noah too EJA. He would be a 3rd option. I'm not that big on Brandon Wright but he wouldn't be bad.. Who would you rather have though? I'd take Gasol over either of those guys. If I'm looking at the draft, and what the C's could potentially do, I think Oden, Durant, Gasol, Noah, Wright probably in that order.

Noah is definitely the #3 pick, who would be the #1 pick if Oden and Durant weren't coming out this season. I'll be happy if we land him. But if we don't get the 3rd pick, he won't be ours either. We have to get in the top 3 in this draft--otherwise its better to trade the pick for Gasol (being involved in a multi-team trade to benefit all teams).

Perk looks good tonight at least. Has some lift back and is running well. He's also giving Garnett headaches on the defensive end right now.

Perk is a serviceable starter, but isn't a complete player. That's why I think we need an upgrade at Center in order to be contenders. I like his hustle and toughness, but I don't think he's got a lot of basketball IQ and he's a liability offensively.
I think Noah can give us what Perk gives us, plus he's a smart basketball player and more versatile on offense.
