Just curious to know why you guys think Ainge is shopping Pierce.

I dont think he is, at least no more than usual. Im no GM, but would attempting to trade a guy right after he came back from a serious injury lower his value a bit?

I agree with fresh mostly. Other than that I'd say huge contract. Hurt. Keeping minutes away from GG. Trading him for less in return might virtually guarantee us a top pick the way Philly got rid of Webber. Leadership impaired.

If he was dangling Pierce, I would say because he is comfortable that G2 will be his successor and the team could get another player, at a different position that would assist the team better in the long run.

Realistically I think its because Pierce campaigning for the addition of veterans at the expense of our number 1 pick. If he doesn't want to stay through the last part of the rebuild move him for some younger established talent and move on from there.

Pierce has privately demanded a trade to Ainge and the owners. He won't say it to the Boston media publicly because of the firestorm it would create. He has to see the handwriting on the wall and he came back for a showcasing run before the trading deadline.

I'm leaning towards Q's line of thinking. I can't see Pierce being happy to be a Celtic right now because we are a few years away from competing--and that's if we land Oden or Durant. We are still a young team in need of player development, and this process will overlap Pierce's prime years.
I'm sure that's one of the reasons why he's pushing to come back right away, instead of playing it safe. He is a competitor and is probably also itching to return back to the court, but with all the injuries, and recurring injuries that have plagued this team this year, I'd be astonished if Doc is allowing Pierce to come back right now if it wasn't because Pierce and Ainge are looking to showcase him to other teams.
