This is just my opinion but would get me excited about the celtics again. I think we should play the lottery and I think we are going to win it, and we are going to get Greg Oden. I am not for trading the pick. Secondly I think we should try to get Heinsohn to coach this team. I know it's crazy, but why not? There has always been this talk about how good a coach he would be, and I think he could really get a lot out of this team and restore some of the celtic tradition that comes with being a part of this team. I think he could have these guys playing really well. Yeah he's old but really if he has good assistants he would be a good guy to man the helm. He's been taking some time off this season to have surgery and stuff, and I wonder if he's prepping for a return.

I dont think Heinsohn is going to being getting on the bench anytime soon. The guy is getting old. You cant argue with his track record, but I jsut dont see it happening.

Hence the crazy thought. But if it did happen would you be excited? It would be pretty wild, thats for sure. It would have to break some kind of record for the biggest gap between coaching gigs.

Well the guy basically talks through the whole game and says what the players and officials should be doing anyhow. I don't see how it would be much different. Plus he is right 90% of the time. But you are probably right that, it would be a lot of work for him working with guys in practice and that is something I'm not sure if he could really do anymore. The game is different now where you have assistants for that kind of stuff though.

I think he could do it and I'd love it. If Joe Paterno can run down a sideline and try to shake off a split knee I think Heinsohn can do it.

Who would have thought Joe Gibbs would come back? There are coaches that come out of teh woodwork that haven't coached in a long time. !!!GREENIAC!!! Vermeil was another. I'm not saying it would happen, but it's not that far fetched. People have said that if there is one guy that can get the c's running it's heinsohn.

Both Vermiel and and Gibbs didnt not have the health problems that Tommy(and TOmmy's wife) has had. I remember reading somewhere that Red worried about how coaching was adversely effecting Tommy's health. And that was 30+ years ago. Also, their gaps between coaching were big, but not nearly as big as Tommy's. Tommy hasnt coached in 30 years!

I've always wondered if Tommy has input into what the Celtics do. You would think after listening to him that some of these players would get it, but they don't seem to. You would think he is around the team quite a bit, and talks to the players and coaches.
I always thought that if the Celtics could realize Heinsohn's vision they'd be champions but they can't seem to do that. He's always had the right idea. Those 70's teams weren't the most talented bunch, but they played to his vision, and he was a huge reason why they played the way they did.

He would break Rasheed Wallace's record for technical fouls in a season.

I don't think that is his strength. He thinks every player is great even Walter.

I think he just says that stuff cause he's a company man. His fascination with Walta was pretty weird, but I think he'd know Walta was a backup helper kinda guy. He coached before. He knows who's who. He'd just have prioritize. Also who would you rather have? Scala for 3 mill or Walta for a mill?

This was over on Real GM
So it sounds as though Tommy is willing.

Why not? He's only a year younger than Hubie Brown. Atleast Tommy has a resume compare to our past 3 coaches
