I agree EJA. The suns are like that, but if we are going to have two big guys on the floor I'm guessing we are going to have to play a slightly slower pace than the suns do. That's what I'm getting at. I would settle for a slightly slower tempo than the suns. I think that would be good. But you are right, the Suns can play halfcourt and they do it well. Any team that is successful has to have some semblance of a halfcourt game.

I was thinking Derren, why do you think it is that these players run the play even when there may be a better option? Do you think Doc is telling the players to do this? I remember hearing red during an interview saying if there is a clear lane to the basket do you go to the basket or do you run the play? You obviously go the basket, and I agree with what you are saying.....

Like I've been harping about for some time now (and FL's been stating the same), Doc isn't allowing our PG's (Rondo or Telfair) to create offense for the team because he's too busy having them run a structured offense. The ball is always taken out of their hands. I mean, every single possession, we have to have a big man touch the ball at the high post.
Simply having the PG's run through a pick and look for cutters or a shooter spotting up isn't an option--we need every single player on the court to get their paws on the ball at least once every possession. Its no wonder why our offense has been a crawl lately. Consequently, our turnovers have been down, but so has our offensive numbers. We are playing safe basketball, and guys like Delonte and Gomes have been benefitting from that because they aren't uptempo players, but rather station-to-station players.
But that puts to waste a lot of exciting talent, like Rajon, Tony, Gerald, Telfair and Ray.

But who knows if that is what Doc wants. Maybe the players just aren't at a stage where they improvising and they think that is what they are supposed to do. Watching Pierce tonight you can tell he is confident and he basically will say screw the play if he see's an open shot.

Right, and Pierce has done that in the past. But with young players, they don't have the star power to tell the coach that they're going to do things their way. They'll be benched quickly if they go against Doc's coaching.
To me, its obvious that the team is being told to play a certain way. Just watching Rajon and Telfair play tells me that they are being told to play in a safe system. The only time they are allowed to use their playmaking skills are on fastbreaks or when the tempo is being pushed. And this is usually when we start to make comebacks.

Are you watching the game Derren? Did you see Rondo on that last play? They were starting the weave and Rondo just took it to the basket. That was pretty sweet.

Green's also been agressive coming off screens and shooting and just taking it to the hoop. I like what I've seen this game so far.

It happens in the game CF, but not because of Doc. Usually broken plays allow the players to improvise and make things happen, and that plays to Rajon's, Bassy's, and Gerald's strengths.
