After watching Big Al battle and get the better of Tim Duncan I have come to realize that this guy is the real deal. Last night he was going toe to toe with Duncan and during the fourth quarter the Celtics made a huge comeback against the Spurs and Jefferson was guarding Duncan one on one and doing an incredible job. He blocked his shot twice and forced him to a couple of bad hook shots from close to the free throw line. Duncan was unable to take the ball baseline and bank it like usually does. He also made Duncan go for his up fakes and was able to finish strong. He still needs to improve his defense for example he gambled and went for a steal at the end of the quarter that cost them the game but he learned his lesson on that one and as he matures the sky is the limit for this guy.

One more thing. Imagine if the Celtics got the number one pick. Oden, Jefferson, Pierce. That would be a front line that could arguably rival the greatest front line ever Bird, Mchale, and Parish. I hope Red is watching over the Celtics and they luck out and get Oden.

Yep, Jefferson is starting to make an impression against the league's top players, and he's doing it the right way--by taking it right at them. He's not playing the perimeter and scoring his baskets off of jumpers. He's taking it inside, using pump fakes and jump hooks to score.
And to think he's only 22 years old with a lot more room to grow.

Anytime you draft a big, esp if he by passed college, they take a long time to develop. Plus, Cliff has done a wonderful job w/ him.

There's no excuse for how he regressed last year. For a while other players that most of you think are significantly less talented surpassed him.

I totally agree EddieT, but just to answer the question, I would say yes. Yes, he definitely regressed.

His numbers improved across the board and he was injured--how did he regress?

I don't know if you guys have heard what was said during the Hawks' game, but since Dec 6, Jefferson has the 6th most double doubles (17) in the league, behind such guys as Garnett, Duncan, Nash, Howard, Boozer, etc. He's in an elite group of individuals. And he's still got so much room to grow.
