Has there been any updates on his expected return lately?

I think I read somewhere that they are keeping him out until the 19th now, but not sure.

I even read some time ago that he may not return till after the All-Star weekend in early Feb. But I'm not positive about that.
I think Doc should also sit Wally for the time being. His ankles are still sore, and now he's got swelling in his left knee because he's compensating for his sore ankles.

Today's paper said that the boot may come off this week and that they are going to re-evaluate him this week some time. When he was evaluated right after the west coast trip they said that they were hoping to target Jan 19 for a return to practice and it would take longer than that to get back to game shape but those are just guestimates because he is still in the boot.

I think I saw something about late Jan.

I have not heard much, but it sounds less serious than it is. If he is wearing a boot, say a soft cast, something must be very wrong. Or perhaps basketball players just do it for precautions.

Take this with a grain of salt, but someone on the Celticsblog works in sports medicine, and he was saying that you have to be very careful with any stress related injury. He wsaid its possible he could play soon, but its also very possible they could err on the side of caution and sit him for the year.

Dickerson said on the tele last night that Pierce could be in the protective boot for another 2 more weeks, and be re-evaluated after that. He was supposed to only be in the boot for 2 weeks, but has already gone longer than that, and he will still need to wear it for an additional 2 weeks.
With all the injuries that have been happening, not only on our team but throughout the NBA, its wise to be extra safe with Pierce.

Pierce may have to come back and play just because we don't have enough bodies on our roster.

Doc played small forward in practice today. I wonder if we can press Doc and Kevin Eastman into service if we run out of live bodies.

I say bring in Troy Bell for a 10 day contract or possibly help out Dana Barros and his financial situation. Make the best of a bad situation. They are both BC guys. Unless you want to see Gomes over at shooting guard. Seriously we played small ball so long I wouldn't mind a little bit of a 4 big man set. I mean Doc said we have to slow things down to a crawl.

I say sit him for the year then. San Antonio sat David Robinson and ended up with Duncan. I don't see why we aren't allowed. What do we gain by playing PP? Or even Wally for that matter? I'd almost say it's an easy decision.

Unfortunately, Stern knows how to shuffle the deck, or draft cards.

This sure has put the test to our bench and younger players. C- at best.... Not much better with TA out. He was the one picking up his game of late.
Time to focus on a high draft pick, IMO.
Tank it! ! !
