If the Celtics can just make the playoffs, they could win the Conference. Remember, no Pierce and Wally has been playing like he is injured (and probably is).

There is opportunities for improvement. This has to be in the running for the biggest understatement in history. You know, there is something wrong with this Wally situation. If he is injured then why play him 30+mpg? It would be much better to play Green. Young and inconsistent or not, he is better than Wally. At least he tries to play defense and can hit a few shots a game even on his worst night. As for Wally, if you obvously don't have your legs under you, why do you insist on shooting and shooting and shooting? And when you are getting outrebounded by 20, why do you keep a guy known for his rebounding on the bench? I really am at a loss for answers with this team these days. One thing I am sure of is that Tony Allen is a player and should not be traded.

Game thoughts:
I don't know what Doc was thinking in the 2nd quarter. After the starters fell behind by 11 or 12 pts, the bench guys (Perkins, Gerald, Telfair, Scalabrine) came in, and started to chip away at the deficit. They cut it down to 8 and we were in the middle of a momentum shift. The energy level was there with this unit, and they were running a bit harder than the starters. Then, as if clockwork, Doc yanks Telfair, Gerald and Scalabrine, and re-inserts Delonte, Wally and Gomes--and the tempo comes to a screaching holt and the tide shifts back to the the Magic. I just don't get it.

I guess he thought they were making too many mistakes in the running game, so he put in the guys that would make less mistakes and lose the game for him. You wouldn't want to make tons of mistakes and win or anything. That would reinforce mistakes.

It's funny how they get out rebounded so badly but Doc still refused to play Al and Perkins together. It took a Ryan Gomes injury for Doc to play Al and Perk at the same time and it's funny how they made a run in the third quarter with that lineup. Doc Rivers drives me nuts. He sees the front line of the Magic and they feature Dwight Howard, Tony Battie and Hedo Turkoglu. They are all 6'10 or taller but he counters with Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes and Wally and then he complains about Al not fighting for rebounds and uses that as the reason why they got outrebounded.

I think you're right, Eja.
Beefy, I also thought Jefferson had his hands full, and it wasn't all on his shoulders that we got outrebounded so badly.
