Say Doc was coach of the Spurs. Would they have won the championships they won under Pops?
Or what about if Doc coached the Lakers during their run. Would he have won 3 titles in a row like Phil Jackson?
Flip it around and ask yourself, if Greg Popovic was currently coaching our team, would we be any better?
Or if Phil Jackson was here, would we be 11 - 18?

Teams this young and talentless dont win games. Maybe a phil jackson could get us to 45 wins(with a healthy Pierce, of course), but anything after that would be clinically described as a miracle.

But what about if Doc was coaching the Spurs--do you think he would have brought championships to San Antonio?

nop he would had play small ball and bench duncan. The Spurs would not be near the defensive team they are under Popovich and they might struggle to make the WC playoffs under Doc.

If Doc coached the Cavaliers, Lebron James would skip practice and demand a trade.

The Spurs would still be a 50+ win team with Doc. I dunno how'd theyd fare in the play-offs, but theyd still be an upper echelon team.

That's what I'm thinking. I don't feel that Doc is the right coach to take us to the next level. He's failing at developing our kids, so its debatable if he's the right coach for the task at hand.

I believe they would have won only 1 championship under Doc.
I agree they wouldn't have been as good defensively.
But with Duncan, and the talent they have, no matter what coach you put on their bench (Doc included), they would have won at least one ring.
Shoot, I could coach them and they'd probably win.

If Doc coached the spurs they would start Duncan at center with Bowen playing power forward, Manu at the three and finley and Barry would be the guards. He wouldn't start Parker because he plays too out of control and is not a great defender. Doc is just too controlling to let Parker play his game and he just doesn't appreciate big man play in the post. Do you think that Popovich would make Scalabrine guard Dwight Howard knowing that he has 7'1" Olowakandi on the Bench or if he was getting out rebounded by twenty do you think that Powe would be on the bench.

Wasn't it the legendary Red, who said "Jackson only can coach ready made teams." In other words, teams that had the pieces, example - Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, in place?

WHat he did with last years Lakers made me a Jackson believer. He took virtually the same roster that had a losing record in 2004 and made them a solid play-off team in 05. THey look even better this year. And did I mention he is from North Dakota*? *AKA THe Peace Garden State** **AKA The Flickertail State
