We had cut the lead to 4, but then back-to-back misses by Wally and a miss by Telfair help GS push the lead up to 10 after 3. Wally is killing us with 2-13 shooting, and Telfair is only 2-7. Al is shooting better, but not getting many shots. If we stay ice-cold like this, it will be a LONG road trip.

Ouch, down 13 with only 5:56 left. Al has at least 3 turnovers I can think of this quarter. He has 18 points, but late mistakes are killing us. Oh well, yet another loss.

Pietrus gets the ball inside and lays it in. Green misses a 3. Powe gets the rebound. Misses a layup. He gets the rebound and misses again. GS rebounds. Davis misses and Powe rebounds. GS gets a steal and dribbles the clock out. Final score is 110-100. Powe had 5 points and 4 rebounds in 2 minutes... WHY IS THIS KID SITTING ON THE BENCH? ? Why is Doc letting Wally play 33 minutes and shoot 3-17 when it is so obvious he doesn't have his legs under him. He was killing us out there. I am more and more convinced that Doc is not playing to win.

We need help. Poor defense, poor rebounding and looking at the espn shot chart we once again gave up a lot of points in the paint. Perkins reminds me of Al and Tony last year -- he is a shadow of what he was before the injuries (shoulder seperations and plantar facitis). We need Perkins to get health and rebound the way Al and Tony have once they were healthy, then play he and Al together during some stretches; otherwise IMO we give up too much height up-front and will never be able to match-up with any team that has a decent front line. Either that, or we need to trade for a solid big man -- but I don't know of anyone available.

Mev, a combination of Perk and Gomes is what we need right now. Gomes doesn't give us enough defense, and Perk doesn't give us any offense.
Game thoughts:
--Delonte was finally on his way to a breakout game, but Doc sat him on the bench for most of the 3rd quarter. Lefty was finally doing what he should have been doing all season, which is look for his shots, and he was a big reason why we were only down by 5 at the break. Mysteriously, Doc goes away from what was working, and instead does the opposite by....... (see next line)
--Doc used Wally extensively, when its clear that Wally is not healthy. He's got a limp and he's hurting everytime he runs. Wally plays the second most minutes and shoots a horrible 3 for 17. Playing Wally so much was a big mistake because he wasn't effective out there and he hurt us defensively.
--Its frustrating me to the bone that Doc handicaps our PG's. Our PG's aren't given the chance to create at all. Absolutely ZERO.
--We are 23rd in the league in fastbreak points. Poor defense and a slow down attack will do this to a team.
--Tony is looking like a 6'4" version of Gerald Wallace, and that is awesome news for us. Both guys are a jump shot away from being All-Stars, but their slashing and their defense are big factors. Tony's confidence is growing more and more every game and he's finishing a lot more plays. We really need him right now.
--Jefferson's patience is being tested and he's steadily winning the battle. The Warriors crashed on him on every possesion as soon as he gathered the ball, but yet he was able to shoot 6 for 9 and score 18 pts. That's impressive in my book, especially for a young big man who is the focal point of the defenses he faces. He wasn't passing the ball out of double teams quick enough and that led to him committing more turnovers than he should have.
--I was happy that Powe got such a loud ovation when he entered the game, and I was even happier that he produced in his limited time. Doc is insane for keeping him on the bench the entire game when its clear that Powe gives us a solid combination of offense and defense. Had Powe been given more playing time, the game might have been won, or at least been closer.

You just described Leon Powe. He gives us the offense of Gomes and the defense of Pierce. Although he doesn't have the range of Gomes, he can score from the baseline and in the paint. He gives us exactly what we need and Doc sits him on the bench. I don't understand but am more and more convinced that we need a new coach.

I am too, FL. But I'm under the impression that Doc is trying to lose games. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.
JFYI, Mike Fratello coached the Memphis Grizzlies, who were a bad team before he got there, to back to back playoff berths in the very tough western conference. The Grizzlies have been playing poorly this season, currently 6 - 24. But Fratello did not have Gasol up until a few games ago, and he lost Shane Battier in the offseason--a move that has clearly put them back.
I'm not sure if Fratello is the right coach for us (I'm not fully aware of what Fratello's philosphies are), but under him, Gasol had arguably his best season last year. I certainly want Gasol here and if he has a good relationship with Fratello, maybe getting Mike will help us in two ways.

If we are looking to win as many games as we can, Fratello would be a good choice. But with Fratello as coach, he'd make DOc's teams look like the Suns. Fratello plays a frighteningly boring brand of basketball that emphasizes defense and slowly down the flow of the game every change you get. But we would get to see one of the greatest hairpieces in professional soprts 82 nights a year.

If that's the case, Ainge most likely won't grab him.
