Adrian Daintley scored a ton of points as a 6'5" post player.

Just listened to CelticsStuffLive and they were talking about some stuff about Telfair and our lack of a veteran PG.
First of all, there's rumbling in the lockerroom that Telfair is not getting along with his teammates. It could be that he's frustrated with Doc (and they talked about this as well) and that has carried into the lockerroom. (Apparently, Gerald is also harking back at Doc). But if this isn't the case and Telfair is really a lockerroom bad apple, then this concerns me. I like Telfair, but we have no room for this.
But I'm willing to give Telfair some credit because I know that Doc has not been using players the right way, and Doc has always been hard on his PG's.

Jut checked and Powe has a game where he got 6 rebs in 14 minutes and another where he got 4 rebs in less than 3 minutes. That's ridiculous. Somebody ought to check if that's a per minute record
However he only has one assist this year. Hello Yinka Dare.

Most of the time he gets rebounds and puts them back in so no assists or else Doc's wonderful offense resets itself and it goes around the arc before coming back in. Powe does good things. I wish he would play more. We need more good things.

At this point in his development, when he gets the ball, he's in position to score because no team sends double teams on him. So he either gets a good look at the basket or he's fouled.

Screw the idea of a veteran PG. This is a young team. It would ideally be nice to hvae a veteran PG to run it, but who? And at what cost? Doc was a PG. So let's see some of that skill at teaching the young PGs. Constantly sounds like he is a hard-!!!GREENIAC!!! with the PGs. Well, lighten up. use some Coach K once in awhile.

I agree. The young PG's we have are young, but the high level of talent are in them. Now, yes, going to college for a couple of seasons may have helped Telfair become a better PG at this stage of his development. But if we take a look at Steve Nash, he had to go to college for 4 years, and then wait a couple more years in the NBA before finally making himself into a good, and then fabulous, PG. But through it all, he's had to have the playing time and the learning curve to develop his game.
Both Telfair and Rajon are college juniors right now and they still have a lot of room to grow. Doc cannot slap them on the wrist for every mistake they make and banish them to the bench. Delonte is never going to have the PG skills that these 2 posses. Why waste time developing him into a PG when he should be focusing on nurturing both Telfair's and Rajon's skills so that in a couple of years, they will be ready to take on the NBA full time?

If we are to nurture Telfair and Rondo, then Delonte West probably needs to be traded since Gerald Green and Tony Allen must play at the SF and SG spots.
I suppose we need to monitor the minute allocation to see who is next to leave Boston.

C'mon Ainge, make it happen. Gasol wants to be here, and Ainge wants him here (and I want him here ;D ).

This is from Marc Stein's column on ESPN today sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime_070127-28So Danny is interested and there are rumblings about Gasol coming here. It is more likely to happen if Danny is very quiet about it. I never did thnk the Iverson thing would happen. Danny was saying too much about it in the press. He never talks about deals he is actually making.

Right you are, FL. Danny doesn't reveal his hand to the public (and if the public finds out his plan, he just lies through his teeths ;D).
Depends on who the young players are who we'd have to give up. Say no to Jefferson and Gerald. But if packaging other young players with Theo's expiring contract and future 1st round picks (say in '09 and beyond), I'm comfortable with pushing the trade button for Gasol.
As long as Pierce stays on the shelf for the remainder of the season, we'll still have a shot at Oden. Actually, with Gasol on the team, even getting Kevin Durant would be big!! Consider a front three of Gasol, Jefferson and Durant--three long and athletic big man who can score, rebound and block shots. If Pierce is still here, WOW!!! Won't really matter who's running the Point with those 4 guys. Telfair, Rondo or Delonte will be after thoughts.

With TA hurt, but also having emerged I am not interested in trading GG. If I knew what would happen with either one maybe I'd trade the other, but at this point we have no idea what will happen with TA or GG. TA stepped up but got hurt. The other one has a longer ways to go than we thought and might not get where we thought. Suddenly the guy i would want to trade would be Bassy and plan on West, Ray, and TA backing up there in that order with PP and Wally occasionally chipping in as point forwards.

I'm still hoping for Telfair to come through for us, but yes, I'd give him up for Gasol. Mainly because we'd still have Rajon, and I'm high on him as well.
Actually, even if we don't land Durant or Oden, we'd still have a stacked team.
Gasol Jefferson Green Pierce Rajon/Telfair
