I lik J Rich more than PP, I like Monta almost as much as West, when you consider Dunleavy makes three times as much as Scala and that his contract is a year longer I don't really like that underachiveing wuss (I think he came from extra scrappings in the Keith Van Horn clone machine, but left all the toughness inside. I'm afraid Perk will accidentally break his legs by bumping ino him). And sending our 1rst is unaccpetable. Maybe if it were lottery protected. I think this is way more about GS trying to acquire an all-star, unload Dunleavy, and go into the draft with two firsts than about anything else. Then hopefully they are looking at Baron Davis, Odom or Noah, PP, and like a Horford or Corey Brewer, and trying to set themselves up for a decade. I want our team to be a dynasty not theirs.

The Chicago trade thought/rumor probably has some legs to it, being that they has been looking to acquire a star type player for some time now.

I'd rather not pick up DUnleavey. That contract is a killer. I dont mind JRich at all, but I'd like to know more about his knee injury before trading PP for him. Also, If Ellis was a 2nd rounder, wouldnt this be his FA year? How much $$ do you pay a swingman when you already have JRich, Dunleavey(and dunleavey is a SF, not a PF) and eventually Green making big bucks? Right now, Id still pass on this trade.
edit I just reread the original post. GS wants us to throw in a pick? No flippin way. This trade went from 'eeeeh' to 'eeeeew' in a hurry.

Richardson's numbers have been really off the mark this season, and I'm not sure exactly what to point the finger at. It could be his knee, and there's some credit that needs to be given to Michael Pietrus emerging as a really good player. But still Richardson is the proven star player and it could be his knees that are causing his sub par numbers.

Ellis and Roberson emerged too I guess.

Monta has certainly emerged as a player (nearly 18 ppg as a second year player). He's a guy I have my eyes on, and want on this team.
Troy Murphy has a really big contract and the Warriors are trying to dump him. He's the type of big man that Ainge and Rivers likes--the type who can hit 18 footers consistently and rebound well. Overall, he and Pierce cancel out each other's contracts.

If he'll run, work hard, and has toughness I'd make that trade in a second. Maybe two.

The thing that worries me about Murohy is his atrocious defense. And his gonzo contract.
The more I think about it, I'd still rather roll with what we have unless Chicago or Minnesota give us a call.

We can't roll with what we have because once Pierce and Wally return, Tony and Gerald's minutes are going to go down the drain again. And once Perk and Olowokandi return, Powe is going to disappear even more.
We have too many young players and not enough developmental time to go around for everyone. And our problem is we have a lot of solid role players blocking the way of players who have the potential to be better than them. Either keep Gomes and trade Powe, or vice versa. Same with Delonte and Allan Ray. Same goes for Pierce and Gerald and Tony and Wally. Jefferson has emerged and no one is blocking his way anymore, and that makes it easier to architech our future.

Every team fills out the last few spots of their lineup with young guys, and most of these guys are nothing special. I dont lose any sleep knowing that Allen Ray is riding the bench. And in regards to trading Ray, who would want him? What would a team be willing to give up? I doubt a bidding war would start if he was cut. I'd be suprised if he is in the league in five years. Powe could turn into something decent, but I'm not holding my breath. I could see him joining Brandon Hunter in the land of Misfit Undersized Power Forwards in the near future. And would that golden state trade really open up any roster spots? After that deal our 2/3s would be: JRich, Wally, Ellis, Green, Dunleavey, Allen, West, and Ray. How does that trade open up any minutes?

I see Powe beating out Gomes, and he displays it when he's on the court (factoring in defense, rebounding, energy, scoring, etc.). But Doc has grown very comfortable with Gomes and uses him exclusively, even when he's being beaten out by opposing PF's. In the meantime, Powe sits, when he can actually help us defensively at the 4.
I'm high on Allan Ray, and in a little while, fans will start to like what he brings to the table. But Doc is very comfortable with Delonte and uses him exclusively, even when he hurts us when he plays the 1 (not directly, but indirectly because he disrupts our tempo). Delonte is a trooper and one of the most intense players we have, but he has limitations and when he plays the 1, his limitations are plainly evident. From what I see, Allan Ray can fill in better as a backup PG than Delonte, plus he's quicker and more athletic, and is a better catch and shoot guy than Delonte--and possibly even better as a pure shooter.

Hope to see you around more often, RC.
After watching Jefferson get masacred tonight against the Clippers, I think its obvious that we need another impact big man (and by big, I don't mean 6'7" or 6'8") if we want to be contenders. We need someone who will balance out the defense in the middle so that teams don't colapse on Jefferson every time down. We need an offensive threat who will make teams pay dearly for cheating on Jefferson. And defensively, we need a big time shot blocker who can help Jefferson man the middle. Big Al has become better defensively, and he could possibly be a 2 bpg guy with more seasoning. But blocking shots is not his strong suit and we do need help in this area.
For these reasons, I think its very important for us to get either Greg Oden or Pau Gasol (Joakim Noah would be a nice consolation prize, but not as impactful). Oden is a long shot because we need the luck of the bounce with the ping pong balls and its not a guarantee that he'll come out this season. Gasol is a better bet because Memphis is looking to move him and they want young players in return. Pierce and some young players should do the trick.

absolutely agree with you, but it seems that memphis isn't that eager to trade him now after heisley turned down th purchase attempt by laettner and davis. i would be thrilled if we got gasol somehow

Gasol wants out of Memphis, so they may feel the pressure to trade him, with our without a change in ownership.
