at Boston Celtics at New Jersey Nets December 9, 2006 7:30 PM Eastern Time TV: League Pass, FSNProbable StartersPoint Guard vs Shooting Guard vs Small Forward vs Power Forward vs Center vs Key Matchups vs vs Keys to the GameWe need to play with energy for 48 minutes. We can't afford to come out flat and play catch up. We need to limit turnovers and take care of the ball. We make too many sloppy passes and in doing so, give away too many points. We need to commit to playing defense as a team. Defense wins games and it is our defense that keys our offense. We need to play tough defense to win. Doc needs to play Powe, Green and Rondo more. This may not be a key to the game but it is a key to our future.

Celtics have been surprisingly good on the Sat night end of back to backs this year. To wit, close losses at Wash and at Clev plus wins at NYK and at Milwaukee.
I will be a bit late for this as I will finish the Wichita St at Wyoming game going on.

I am stuck with the Nets feed for the game. UGH! I hate it when I don't get Mike and Tommy. Marv Albert and Mark Jackson... terrible. I will miss Donny Marshall with Mike and Tommy and will miss any Iverson talk.

This start is about as bad as it gets - They are flatter than Eastern North Dakota.

I was about to say almost the same thing about Scala. Doc just doesn't miss a chance to put Scala in. Why doesn't he just end the charade and just tell everyone "I have a huge man crush on Scala. I think he's one of the best players in the league and I have decided to start him from now on" It's getting ridiculous. What do you do when a coach continuously gives major minutes to his worst player? We're getting killed right now. KILLED. When do we fire Doc already?

Picking up with 1:59 left in the first and Nets up 22-2. Celtics have settled for all jumpshots and none of them were falling. Gomes hit the only basket with over 8 minutes gone in the first. Absolutely terrible start. No energy. No one taking it inside. Just coming down and settling for jumpers. In the meantime we allowed NJ to get to the basket at will.

PP at the line and hits both FTs. West, Green, Pierce, Al and Scal on the floor. RJ drives to the basket and lays it in. PP with a good fake and gets the bump from Williams. The basket is good and he hits the FT. Green with a steal. PP hits a step back jumper. House hits a 3. PP front rims a 3. Al with the rebound and lays it in. House misses a 3 and Al tracks down the rebound along the baseline. West has it knocked away as he drives to the basket with 2 sec in the first. Nets can't get a shot off. Score at the end of 1 is Nets 27 and Boston 11. We have dug ourselves a deep hole.

Celtics inbound to start the second. Al gets inside and spins and lays it in. Nets hit a jumper. Celtics miss and Nets rebound. Williams misses a 3. Rondo rebounds. Rondo, Scal, West, Al, and Green on the floor. West gets the shot off just at the SC but it misses. Scal is there for the rebound and put back and draws the foul. He makes the FT. House misses and Al rebounds. West drives the lane and has it slapped away in the lane out of bounds. Celtics in bound. Green hits a fadeaway jumper from the FT line. Rondo is plowed over by RJ and RJ called for an offensive foul. Travel called on Al in the paint. The Nets announcers are saying that our second unit is much better than our starters because they play with energy and the starters don't. Frank puts his starters all back in. Kristic called for a 3 second violation. Time out with 8:56 left in the half and NJ up 29-18. Celtics are slowly climbing back into it.
