First of all, why in the world would Cleveland trade away LJ and pay us for taking him (they are paying for almost all his salary)? FMoney wise, Cleveland did this because they are approaching the luxery tax, and it was cheaper to get rid of LJs contract than risk having to pay it twice over under the luxery tax. This sounds like a case of both teams trading players that otherwise wouldve been cut. I wouldnt be surprised if both of these guys are cout by the end of training camp.

Another spin on this is LJ was brought in for security measures. Both Delonte and Wally are banged up a bit and we have an entire season ahead of us. Both Delonte and Wally are our outside shooters and if either one of them is out, it slows us down with what we want to do (which is run and gun).
Plus, the way Doc is grilling our guys (using a 12 second shot clock in practice), we are going to push the tempo a lot, and we are going to need a lot of fresh legs to do this, especially with our wing players. LJ gives us another solid perimeter shooter who can come in and give a breather for Pierce, Wally and Delonte.

Just thought I'd post LJ's stats from his senior season at Oregon, just in case you were wondering how good he was at the college level:
03'-'04: 21.2 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 4.5 apg, 3.0 TO's, 1.3 spg, 0.2 bpg, 49% FG, 86% FT, 44% 3pt.
