Telfair has to commit the foul to stop the clock, and he's out of the game now. Scal back in.
Down by 5 with :13 and TOR is set to shoot free throws. Not looking good.

He hits both FTs. Rondo drives to the basket and tosses up a shot as he is fouled. He hits both FTs. Ray breaks up the inbounds pass but it goes out off him. Celtics foul immediately. Jones at the line both FTs. Rondo quickly brings it up and Rondo hits a 3 from the corner. Parker hits a layup at the buzzer. Raptors win 118-112

Rondo once again had a huge game. Doc stayed with small ball too long and he stayed with Scal too long. If we had had Gomes or Al in there instead of Scal, we probably would have won. I am not sure why we haven't seen Jones or Powe yet. I hope they aren't going to be cut without even getting a chance to see what they can do. Jones has a lot of promise and can rebound and block shots. I am not sure why they haven't been playing him because when they did play him, he did well. We turned the ball over WAY too much. Rondo is my player of the game for the second game.

Rajon with 29 pts tonight. He personally kept us in the game toward the end of regulation and in overtime. I'd say he's going to win the Tommy Award for the second consecutive game.
I'd like to hear some game analysis on this one. When a team wins, there's not much criticing going on. But when we lose, the warts start to appear. Obviously, TO's are a big concern.
It appears that Doc went with the small ball for a big chunk of the game. Both Perk and Al got into foul trouble, but he wasn't using Kandi or DJ, and he played Scal quite a bit.
The Allan Ray experiment didn't work out so well tonight. He shot 30% from the field and committed 6 TO's. He's got to step it up and redeem himself if he wants to stay on with us.

Truthfully, the refs made a couple of terrible calls. Gerald didn't hang on the rim long enough to get a T on that jam. He was trying to prevent coming down on a player. The other one was when they called Rondo for a block when it was clearly a charge and on top of that, they counted the basket that he shot after the foul was called. I know Doc is experimenting with lineups in the preseason, but he should have had Gerald and Al or Gomes out there in the OT instead of Ray and Scal. I just hope it is a pre season thing and not a sign that Doc still doesn't know what he is doing in game situations.
Rondo wins the Tommy Award again tonight and history is made. A Rookie wins the Tommy Award in his first 2 professional games.

Doc said that he didn't think it possible to have 37 TO's and still be in the game. He said that at the end Telfair and Rondo were imposing their will on the game and neither wanted to lose and that is good. Each guy was trying to do too much on his own. They werent moving the ball well and were dribbling too much. Bassy played better today than yesterday. OT was clearly a preseason OT. Guys were out there to see what they would do. Turnovers are the result of guys getting to know each other and getting used to the running game.

Observations from this game
We won this game by 4 points. There is no way on earth you call the charge on one end and notthe other. The refs made the wrong call against the Cs both times and on the ridiculous hang on the rim. The refs had an agenda. Oh well. That's been the story the last few years.
PP could be seen at the end of the game like "we won. Who cares whatthe refs think. I'm happy again"
Yes the Cs were slower. That's what happens after you beat the Cavs the nite before.
Neither Gomes nor Al is really taking the bull by the horns. Both look good. Neither looks great. Gomes looks a little more comfortable. Al looks like he was the one who improved more.
I fear a world where we split up into the Bassy camps and the Rondo camps. But no I don't seeing as how Rondo is currently winning this deal handily. Notthat Bassy has been bad cause he's been better than I thought he'd be.
There is no way you can say for a second that TA is all that much better than GG. In fact I think GG is better. It's time to think about trading TA.
Nice way to limit mins of important people and giving mins to others who need them.
Clearly Doc (probably with coaching from DA) is playing head games with mins here. He is withholding mins from AL and Perk to make them more hungry. He is giving mins to Scala to make him more hungry. (He's saying to Scala "Isn't it nice to play? This could happen more you know") Last nite he said to Kandi "yeah you played great last nite. But you know what? I got lots of guys who want to play. So what you hustled once in your life. Too little. Too late. I need a lot more than that. Sit the bench and think about that"
D Jones officially has a bad back. Unofficially he has fallen off the face of the universe and itmay have something to do with signing Pitts and Kandi and guys I never heard of (Akigbala)
There is one thing I like about Scala. When he plays I always say to myself "Gee he's better than people give him credit for". I always said the exact oppositte thing every time Raef played, even when he got that 31 point game on 3s cause he was on fire. Also Scala is like 1 5th the cost.
I didn't see anything phenomenal out of Bargnani. Yes I realize it was his first game and he looked comfortable and ok, but consider this. You are now sitting at the #1 spot in the draft and God says "I'll give you a choice. Him or Rondo." Quick who do you take? Upside shmupside. I know who I want.
Also in case you didn't see it Rondo had this one play they almost stole the ball from him twice in 2 seconds and he prevented them both times.
Also he had the single greatest steal I've ever seen (not including anything Bird ever did. But it was THAT good). He should have gotten 5 Tommy Points that second.

Interesting. Telfair, Rondo, and Green all 3 in double figures. That's good news.
So far, none of the bigs looks ready to dominate. But it is easier for little to look better than bigs, just like in an all-star game.
Number of turnovers is awful. Pretty predictable with that many new players and trying to force the run, I guess.
Don't know Toronto well, so not sure how many first line players they were missing. For Cs to play without Wally, Theo, and Delonte is to miss out on a good bit of talent---almost half of what is likely to be Doc's rotation.
Several teams---I'm thinking especially of Chicago---Cs may match up better with Telfair and Rondo than did last year.
Curious that Powe hasn't played yet, although he isn't listed among those suffering from some injury. Too bad Jones is missing time.
Kandi's resurgence kind of looks short-lived.
Green's play so far is encouraging and could help Doc stretch his rotation.
Don't recall either paper offering an opinion about quality of team defense in either game.
Was Gomes matched up against Bosch? if so, game was a real warning about the season. Gomes had trouble with bigger, stronger 4s last year.
Cs shooting percent on FTs and 3s was good, especially for pre-season.
Kandi had 4 rebounds in just under 10 minutes. Maybe that looks better than first thought.

Forgot. Ronda had a big 3 to force overtime. And another jumper within the last 30 seconds of OT. Clutch shooting for a kid without a jumpber.
