Greene inbounds to Allen who misses a 3 from the top of the key. Cavs get the rebound. Another fun game to watch. They played hard and didn't give up when they were down. I thought Jones played very well and wonder what took so long to get him out there. He gives up shots and I think his offense needs work but he is a defensive presence in the paint and a good rebounder.

doc just said that the player who impressed him most was Dwayne Jones. And where has he been? He said that Dwayne rolls strong to the basket where as Perk and Al lumber to the basket and that they can learn from watching how Jones rolls strong to the basket. Donny thinks the team is too young and that Danny has to make a deal to bring in another veteran to help PP. We shot 50% from the FT line tonight... we REALLY have to practice FTs. Allen had a great game all the way around. Gerald had some nice plays but then got careless and turned the ball over like 3 or 4 times in a row. Jones ended up with 13 rebounds. Interesting that Danny insisted that Jones be included in the trade. He must have seen something there that he liked. Lots to be excited about for next year.

I would never have believe we would be a 49-60 loss team at the beginning of the year, but take some comfort in several young players making significant progress. Now we need to get them playing together, which will take a set rotation. Hopefully, Doc can finally figure one out next year.
Shocked the Perkins only had 2 rebounds, but at least he has a team-high four assists. Jones rebounded well -- funny that if Doc likes what he sees in Jones one would think that Jones showed enough in practice to have been on the court during games.
I would like to find a way to trade Scal and Raef so Doc will have to ride his young big men. Delonte really grew when Doc had to start him at PG by default, and I feel the same would happen with our young bigs. Even Perk has had some solid scoring games once he was full time starter.

Is it the opinion that Jones is decent on defense? Had seen comments earelier that Jones was great at rebounding in practice.

Jones was the Atlantic 10 conference's defensive player of the year during his final season of College ball, and was among the league leaders in the NBDL in both rebounds and blocked shots. Nothing much on offense, but has a knack for rebounding and shot-blocking. May develop into an intriguing back-up center. Apparently, according to the Celtic's owner, Ainge insisted Minnesota include him in the trade, so Ainge sees something in him; given Ainge's track record, he is probably on to something.

I'm curious how Allen got his points. The commentary indicated he got a good num ber of the baskets on drives. Was he cutting to the basket and getting a pass, or taking the ball and dribbling to the basket?

Most of his hoops were on drives to the basket. He mostly took the ball and dribbled through the defenders to the basket. I think I remembered one possibly 2 where he cut to the basket and got the pass but most were on drives.
