Terrible, Terrible loss. And one that leads me to wonder if Pierce should really be extended this off-season or traded to the Bricks with Brian Scalabrine for Jalen Rose, Channing Frye and an unconditional No 1 which turns into Adam Morrison. Pierce pissed me off today.
The Celtics are going to have to make some decisions regarding Doc Rivers. Make an offer for Mark Turgeon of Wichita St. He will instill some fire in this team and not put up with the crap this team pulls. I would rather have Tony Skinn than Orien Greene on my team. Heck I'll take Sheldon Williams over Al Jefferson.

Don't know any of those folks.
Another thing which I think needs some work is timing on screens, and angles. Both offense and defense. In 4the, the Bulls quick 3 just continually rubbed away from screens.
Not altogether sure why you feel that strongly about PP.

Becuz I wouldn't put too much weight on PP brain fart compare to what he has done this season. He deserves his extension! I wouldn't take Sheldon Williams over Al Jefferson. Definitely wouldn't mind getting a back-up vet PG instead of havin O.Greene getting back-up minutes.

We all forget that Jefferson was starting to play well before injuring himself in the Clipper game -- he had four consecutive double-digit games off the bench and had pulled down 6 boards in only 7 minutes when he landed on someone's foot during the Clipper game. And don't forget how well he worked with Perk against Garnett when we beat Minnesota at home. Just like Tony Allen struggled with his knee before having a couple of great games recently vs the Pacers and Lakers, Jefferson needs to work through this injury. Let's not have such short-term memories that we get rid of a promising, potentially all-star caliber player just because his second year out of high school has been marred by a couple of ankle injuries.
And College coaches for the most part have had a very BAD track record in the NBA (see Golden State, or our own Pitino experience) so I doubt the Wichita St. coach would be the answer to our problems.
As to the game itself, very discouraging fourth quarter. Once again, we show how good we can be and how bad we can be. This team IMO needs time together to develop chemistry and consistency. The ony addition I am eager for is a back up veteran point guard and perhaps one more big man to give us defense and rebounding when someone is injured or in foul trouble.

Doc gave this one away by taking Perk out and going small when Raef fouled out. We went small and they kept their big guys in and were able to get inside. I really want another coach next year. This is what drove me crazy about Doc earlier in the season -- Perkins can be clearly our best center, yet Doc seems afraid to give him too many minutes. Then, just before the shoulder injury Doc was giving him more consistent minutes as a starter, but since the injury he is back to playing him 15-20 minutes, even in games where he is clearly playing the best out of our big men. It's high time Perkins got the start and played the type of minutes Delonte does.

Definitely wouldn't mind getting a back-up vet PG instead of havin O.Greene getting back-up minutes. Yeah, it was relieving gas pressure. Phew that was stinky when rereading the comments. Honestly, the Celtics season of 2005-2006 was doomed right from the start because we lost Payton and Walker and got back Scalabrine and Dickau (hey there is your veteran backup PG right there.) We lost Banks and Allen to injury and that was damaging. Worst of all, we had Blount just playing to get himself out of Boston and RD who was redundant to Pierce. These developments meant the Celtics had no chance of competing if the other teams did their homework. Except for Detriot, Miami, and NJ, all the teams had issues but almost all (except for the Bricks) were mentally tougher than Boston. This reflects poorly on the coaching staff and perhaps Danny Ainge as well. Next year is a critical year for the future of the franchise. If they continue to flounder like this year, than I will be scared that I may never see a good Celtics team again in my lifetime.

Just an OT comment to make us feel a little better. I saw a clip from the Minny game and Garnett passed the ball in to Blount who was open under the basket. Well, Blount was fumbling the ball all over and almost lost it when Garnett came in and took it from him and dunked it. Just so happy that "Skippy" and his stone hands are elsewhere.
Oh yeah...and we need to play Perk more.

This loss was unacceptable. How come our guys cant play defense like the bulls. This team isnt mentally tough enough, and that can be attributed to the head coach. This was a must win and we let it get away. Too many isolation plays.
I guess every loss is for the better, the team isnt going to the playoffs. The pistons would sweep us. Danny needs to add some veterans to this team that dont fold during crunch time. Scalabrine was a complete waste of 15 million dollars. ughhhhhhhh this team frustrates me.
I love my celtics though. Rivers need re- evaluation as a coach though.

It wasn't in the plays of the day or it would be on NBA.com... It was just in the highlight footage from last night's game. If I find it online I will let you know. I just checked on NBA.com and they have the same highlights there on the website and that play is there. Click in the Game highlights Knicks- Wolves. and that play is there. It is a little ways in so keep watching. Too funny.

I'm wondering if Perk may be a clone of Ben Wallace.

I'm wondering if Perk may be a clone of Ben Wallace. We might know more if Doc gets Mt Perk's mins where they need to be. It's one thing benching him when he's in foul trouble - he hasn't been for the most part, of late. I'm also not giving up on OGreene. I believe he will be solid coming into camp next season. Let him put one under his belt before we give up on him.

When he was getting them before the injury, he was producing and getting better and better. I agree that OGreene is going to be a solid player and we need to give him another year before pulling the plug.

Orien Greene did show he had the skills to be a PG during preseason, but has struggled the second half of the year. Rather than get rid of him (which would be foolish since he makes the NBA version of minimum wage and cost us nothing to acquire) we should keep him through the end of his contract (either one or two more years) before giving up on him. I wouldn't mind a veteran PG signed or acquired with one or two years left in his contract, to provide support off the bench until Orien grows into the backup role.

worth remembering t hat Green's surgery kept him out of the summer league and affected pre-season work.
One of the interesting things to watch this summer IMHO is what Doc does during su mmer league. Will he be in attendance?
