Is he best off playing PG, due to size? If he were to play the 2, on a regular basis, would he get beat-up by the bigger 2's in the NBA? Would his body hold up to that pounding? What if Greene comes around as the point? Maybe West as a specialist scorer and 1/2 bench guy. First guy off the bench?
Where do you see DW fitting in?
I just love his heart and approach to the game.

I think he's too short and we have too many good wings for him to be a two. I think he creates better than OG and a lot of other points. I think that this generation of players just might not be as good at being points and running a team. There's only like 3 of them right now. Paul, Kidd, and Nash. I'm not so sure there are going to be lots of Dennis Johnson and Isaiah Thomas types any more. Everyone is a scorer now, so you might see more Delontes which is basically a short 2 guard with good bball IQ and unselfish. Given time in a league like that West might become one of the best points around

Anyone else have a take?

I think he is best suited for the point guard................ for now. Unless we are able to acquire a sure fire point guard that has proven to make players around him better, and who is a natural point, D West stays at the 1.
I can however see him in the future, if we were to get another point guard, playing combo guard off the bench and filling the role of Ricky Davis last year as super sixth man, being relied on as a shooter and creator from off the bench.

I like Esco's assessment on West. I think if Danny finds a "starter" point guard in one of the next 2-3 drafts, West can move to the 2, or come off the bench. He brings alot of unique aspects to the PG position. And he has a pssion for the game.

playing him at the two extended minutes would be putting him at size disadvantage. personally i would be back up pg. sure it means we should find a starting one first. anyway i'm pretty happy he is what he is and where he is

Delonte will play PG most of the time whether as starter or as a back up. Danny mentioned that he was looking for a scorer off the bench at the 1, 2 or 3 spot and that if he found a veteran PG who could start for us that he would consider West playing some at the 2. Even though West is at a size advantage at the 2, he plays big with his aggressiveness and quickness. I like him at PG though. He is just going to improve at that position because he is such a hard worker. I know Tommy loves him as a PG. After someone, I think it was Tanguay, said that he didn't have PG skills, Tommy went on a tirade that game mentioning every time down West's PG skills. Now he does it every single game. Too funny!

I remember that game Florida. Every time Delonte ran the break and dished off for an assist Tommy would scream. "WHO SAYS THIS KID CAN"T PLAY POINT GUARD? HE'S A POINT GUARD BABY!"
It was really funny. I think Delonte had like 7 or 8 assists that game too.

I say just let West be a 1 for the time being. The ones the Cs gave up on early---Billups and Johnson---turned out to be about as good as they thought they would be when drafted.
Brown in his 3rd year showed he wasn't going to be much. So it was time to look elsewhere.
Perk has taken a big step forward in his 3rd year, and no doubt could have done even more apart from the injury.

We're fine with DW at PG. I don't see any reason Ainge should go out there to find a veteran to start at PG. How about we keep grooming DW who I think can be a solid pg in this league rather than trading for a scorer type pg like the mike james of this league.
Far as scoring PG goes, only pg I would want out of these grooming pg would have to be AI. You can't deny 30pts 8ast per game wouldn't help this team out.
Only problem with getting AI is... DW will have to go along with an Al Jefferson or Gerald Green.

Good points JHVOS.
I think West can be a good scorer, on a regular basis. He might be a bit too unselfish right now, as he learns the NBA PG position.

West is fine at PG. This was his first full season (only played about 35 games last year due to injury, and only off the bench except for a couple of games) and he made great strides for what was virtually an extention of his rookie year. I have seen him make some very good plays setting up teammates for baskets (such as in his 10 assist game in LA), and it is a huge advantage having a PG who can hit the 3, rebound and block shots the way Delonte can. Plus ever since he is doing more ball handling since trading Davis for Wally, our team turnovers are down.
I read Doc wants a veteran back-up PG, which I think is appropriate until Greene matures and can play on a regular basis the way he did this past pre-season.

Keep Delonte at PG. He'll be fine there, just needs to learn a little more. I think he can eventually be a 14-16 ppg, 7-8 apg PG.
