Tough tough gritty win!! A lot of teams would have hung it up and used the injuries for an excuse but this team just doesn't give up!!! Take that one Peter May!!!!!! I am soooo psyched!!!! Finally we get one at the buzzer!!! Gomes was awesome tonight. Wally had one of his best games. Greene made some great plays but also made some rookie mistakes but I see where he is going to be a very good PG in time. Nice to see Green get some time. This team showed its heart tonight.... I love these guys!!!!

Ryan Gomes wins the Tommy Award..... 27 points 9 rebounds 5 assists.
Wally with 23 points 5 rebounds 4 assists had one of his best games since coming here.
Pierce with 31 continues his streak of 30+ point games. And the game winner was absolutely amazing!!

Gotta like the OT win being PP was off, for the most part, tonight.

Gotta like the OT win being PP was off, for the most part, tonight. Not only was Pierce off for the most part but we won with Greene and Allen at the point against Arenas. And with Al coming up limping. Just a very very good win for us. I still can't believe that last shot went in. I shrieked when it did... The kids came running thinking someone stepped on the dog LOL. I am just so psyched!!! When I heard West wasn't starting I didn't think we could pull it out. But we are seeing a lot of guys on this team with great hearts who just don't give up. I love it!!!

Nice thing about Gomes is that he is shooting a high percentage on FG attempts. Has to mean that he is getting good shots. I think the 14 shots he attempted tonight is his high.
The assist total tonight looks good given the fact that the PG is a rookie backup.
AjJ seems to be getting back in the offensive flow.

Q's Celtics Report - Another terrific effort and we got a win to show for it - despite playing 5 on 8. Gilbert Arenas is an overrated piece of crap who continually gets away with pushing off with his elbow like he did 5 or 6 times tonight. And the referees pulled out the old standby travelling calls on Al Jefferson. This atrocious refereeing the Celtics are getting is unreal. Orien Greene was flat out jobbed tonight when defending his man. Washington is basically a two man - Arenas and Jamison - both Golden State products (What does that tell you?). Their big men are absolutely horrible - Etan Thomas and Brendan Heywood. Paul Pierce struggles without Delonte West as the lead guard. I like that guard combo. Orien made some horrific mistakes but he played well on the whole. They could not take advantage of the Jefferson matchup on their weak bigs. I look for Chicago to get that 8th spot over Washington and us. Tony Allen was solid - not spectacular - on defense. He just isn't the same player he was last year. I hope he and Al Jefferson can commit to off-season conditioning and both have breakout years next year. Raef is playing too much, he lost some rebound battles out there, probably due to fatigue. His performance since the six game losing streak is meeting my expectations. Olowakandi got no respect from the refs - NONE. I feel bad for the guy as his days in the NBA could be numbered. He was a number one pick and it is a battle between him and Kwame Brown to see who was the weekest number 1 in NBA history.
Gomes is turning into a star. Man, if this guy played and Blount was benched, we would be battling NJN for 1st place. Szczerbiak played well but he did not score late in the 4th qtr or in OT. We need his input in tight games. LaFrentz did get a couple of putbacks - one on a Pierce missed FT for a reverse 3 point play that tied the game late. I don't like those Pierce late game isos but the 2nd one worked out for the game winner (Why wasn't that a three - I'll have to check the point spread on this - The whole game seemed to be working against us).
I concentrated on other games - now over to the NBA board.

Great to pull out a tight one against these guys for a change ... of course we had to do it on a big 22 footer rather than getting bailed out by the refs like Arenas did twice against us, but who's counting?
One concern though ... DELONTE, PLEASE HURRY BACK!! 27 turnovers?! At times, T. Allen was absolutely brutal at the point. Orien had his ups and downs, but did hit a big three in the fourth to tie the game, which should do wonders for his confidence.
What can we say about Gomes? Other than "where has he been, Doc?" Wally, per the Boston Herald, has struggled late in games as his knee tends to tighten up on him. I would like to see Gomes play some at the 3 to give Wally a break, but we need AJ and Perk back and healthy for that to happen, or Allen to start playing better.

I'm curious about the kind of shots Gomes was taking, and what he hit.
Buehler?

He had several tips ins. He is so good at getting position under the basket. He also had 8 free throws (he was 8 of 9). He had 1 three pointer. The rest were mid range jumpers.
