Nice to be in a good mood while posting after a Celtic's game! Nice board work by Gomes -- I wonder if someday we may see stretches where we have Gomes, Jefferson and Perkins as our front line (perhaps against bigger teams). They would sure haul in the rebounds.
Fantastic game by Pierce, and nice to see he and Wally learning to play well together. Also nice to see Raef have another good shooting night.
Decent debut for D. Jones -- 4 boards and a block in 10 minutes. Glad he got PT over Kandi; he might be worth keeping.

I would just like to add, congrats to Paul Pierce for reaching a milestone:
He became only the second Celtic in history, next to Bird, to reach a 1000 steals! (off course if they had started registering steals earlier, Cousy & Havlicek would be included in this list)

Q's Saturday AM analysis -
Celtics played a complete game last night allowing a 4th qtr of garbage time. Scalabrine found a nice role there leading those kids and showing them a thing or two. Actually his play has been solid the past month with his efforts in defense.
How about Ryan Gomes coming in and registering 9 rebs - 2 offensive ones which were putbacks! Good for building up that efficiency rating!
The beneficiary of ball movement is - drumroll please - Raef LaFrentz!! He is one who cannot rely on getting his own shot with ball handling.
Sczerbiak and Pierce must become best buddies like Walker and Pierce were back in the Obie days. Last night was a start.
Orien Greene was impressive as a backup PG. West is a solid player and I think a capable leader on this team.
The Celtics problems now have to be solved from within. Bringing in a new coach like Quin Snyder (who was unfairly dumped by Missouri) won't do much. I guess we have thirty - two games of evaluation left. An 18 - 14 finish would get them to 37 and 45 which is slightly below the 40 wins I prdicted for them this season.
Portland flat out quit in the 2nd half. That has got to make Nate McMillan a sick man. His teams never, ever do that. Poor Energy ought to be the name of that team instead of Portland.

Good night for PP. Congrats to him. It was a good game. I especially liked the ball movement. They have moved the ball for quarters but not for whole games and that goes way back before the trade. I really hope they build on this. Jones was impressive and when he puts on some more muscle he will be even more impressive on the boards. He has those long arms and a great instinct around the basket. I knew Gomes could play and am very happy to see him finally getting a chance to prove it. I would like to see him get regular minutes even after Al and Perk come back. Greene showed solid play last night too. All these kids need is time to develop the potential that is there. Wow! for the first time this year, the Celts were featured 3 times in NBATV top 10 plays of the day. PP was at #10 and # 8 and Green's dunk was #3. The first of many where GG will be in the top 10.

Sorry for taking Paul Pierce for granted. I think we need to drop the trade Paul talks for good. We need to give him his extension. I hope that goes smoothly. Wally Z promotes good ball movement on offense and that will make the Celtics a whole lot better the rest of the way. The playoffs are probably out of reach this year. But they will come back in 2007 and stay with us a long time. ;D
