We drafted ourselves two mature and skilled role players who can complement our top 8 players (if they can successfully buy into the Celtics culture).
We don't need them to make the All-Rookie team or be rising stars -- just come in, play smart, play hard, and execute your role.

Here's what we're facing -- does Schei have more upside than Svi? Does Watson have more upside than Oshae?

Totally agreed Derren.
Brad is essentially telling them hey as later picks and second rounders, you got a lucky break to play for an NBA level team and not just Pro but Elite championship level. You have an opportunity to grow and learn the system and help translate that when called on to play if you're willing to know your role, play D, and work hard.
All Brad is looking for is some hustle. Remember Ed Pinckney? Nothing immediately impressive about his stats but a deeper look will tell the tale. He was on the floor for his muscle, hustle plays, and rebounds. Maybe one of the most overlooked Celtics from the later and post-Bird era.
AHEM
But it's actually good to have drafted not-so-young guys. It's really important you have veteran mature leadership. We are gonna need their experience and ready-to-go skill set. Especially, when trying to deep playoff push or in our case repeat.

We don't need them to make the All-Rookie team or be rising stars -- just come in, play smart, play hard, and execute your role. I hope the guys run the rooks through their paces. Really challenge them and even try to make them leave practice thinking they aren't good enough. Then, build them up by giving them new tools and training. Imagine what it's gonna be like having to go up against the Jay's in scrimmage but not even them. From Jrue down to Hauser I think they will be surprised by just how good this team is. I would even go as far as to say Walsh et al also will be tough covers for them initially. THis team is just built different. In some ways it makes sense KP had a few nagging injuries all season just from our pacing. Good (sorta) news was the wheels didn't come off until late.

Gave you a Tommy point for bringing back memories of Ed Pickney!
Watson doesn't play with the same intensity as Pickney, but I'd love to see Watson hustle and doing the small things.

Austin Ainge gave an interview, and in it he said they like Schei and A&W because they played for winning teams, played well on those teams, were good teammates, and continued to improve their games.
Great, we just added more team first players who know how to contribute to winning.
