The day after winning the championship, Brad Stevens is already back to work, evualating draft prospects for next Thursday's draft.
We don't own a lottery pick (we're picking at 30 and 54), but talent can be found outside of the lottery, in the 2nd round, and sometimes even in the undrafted free agency.
Brad needs to do his homework (and we know he will) and hone in on those type of players who will play Celtics brand of basketball.

Big question is if Brad will stay at 30 (last pick of the first round). With a tight roster and being capped out financially, he might do as he has done in the past -- move the first round pick for 2nd rounders or a future 1st.

One guy that catches my eye is Ryan Dunn from Virginia. 6'8" sophomore, absolute menace on the defensive end. Dude was ACC defensive player of the year, averaging nearly 4 stocks a game. Dude has the potential to guard all 5 positions. Freaky athleticism. The downside? Horrendous jumper. Dude cannot shoot from 3 (or from the line for that matter) and that is necessary to become a playoff caliber wing in today's NBA. But with the 30th pick i think it's worth the gamble to see if you can fix his jumper.

Yes, Dunn's a highly atheltic player who explodes defensively. With his height, build, wingspan, and athelticism combined, I like him better than Matisse Thybulle and Isaac Okoro (other elite defense only players from past drafts).
I don't know about him being a complete non-shooter, though. He wasn't shy about taking three's. Maybe so tweaking to his shot mechanics can help.

hoopshype.com/lists/2024-draft-workouts-tracker/Here's a running list of draft prospects we've brought in (you can add Pacome Dadiet to the list as well). A lot of unknown names on there. Brad and Co. doing their due diligence to hopefully find someone they like in the undrafted free agency.

Ka'Lel Ware is from Indiana U., so I'm sure Brad knows all the scoops on this kid. He checks a lot of boxes for a skinny big. Only thing is his motor runs hot and cold.

Great stuff Derren! I've heard some rumblings about moving up! I am really high on this Ware kid from Indiana. I think he fits in with that stretch big ala KP but with more potential and athleticism. Legit 7-footer who can hit deep! Projections are somewhere in the late teens/early 20s pick. Which doesn't bode well if say Toronto takes him early. If he slips into the 20s and if we move up a few spots he would be a steal for us!
I'm gonna say this right now if we miss out on him it would be tragic!

Another player similar to Ware is DaRon Holmes.

Picking at 30 (last pick of the 1st round) might not be what Brad wants to do.
According to Bobby Manning, we'll probably trade the pick.
There seems to be quality role players in the 2nd round.

If he moves up it would be great or he can take a page out of Ainges playbook and trade down for a future 1st round pick. Cuz hey cant do worse than 30! LMAO

I'd be mighty impressed if anyone can hit on what Brad will do and who he'll pick.
Scheierman might be a guy we take. We love shooting and he provides that.

Looks like Brad is leaning more towards keeping the two picks we have. Being over the 2nd apron, he says it'll be difficult to aggregate assets. Maybe this is posturing, maybe it is what it is.
