Wow! Had to come out of the woods for this!
[HASH]18 will finally be hung from the rafters, and the Celtics are once again the most winningest franchise in basketball.
Big credit to Brad Stevens. Big credit to Joe Mazzula. Big credit to every player (I seriously enjoy every player on our roster).
Let's enjoy this one ..... and then start rooting for [HASH]19!!!

Woah woah woah. Who's "We?" You weren't around. We have GOT to come up with a negotiated agreement with your church and wife. If you go to church weekly....you gotta show up here for a post every other week. That's fair. Make church and family twice as important.
But that was insane. You didn't respond to me emails or my DMs or anything. Thought you might even be dead.

It's pretty cool to see the KG/PP trade finally come to fruition. We debated a lot over who the C's should draft with these picks. I hope Danny Ainge is sitting in Utah enjoying this win as well.

I think I'm gonna collapse as I watch Sportscenter for the first time in years. I need to take my pills. I'm that old now. The one year old I woke up to see the win in 08 has his driver's test tomorrow.

Fresh, you are right. We've finally seen the fruit of what Ainge did by trading Truth and Ticket.
Getting both Jaylen and Tatum at [HASH]3 in back to back drafts was extremely fortunate for us (imagine if we ended up with Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz, Lonzo Ball, or Brandon Ingram -- be a whole different story).
Had to say goodbye to Smart -- I don't think we do this with him.
Couldn't have done this without D-White or Jrue. They are crucial.
If we had a healthy KP we would have swept. We're just so much more versatile and dangerous with him.
Mazzula was the right coach for this group of guys.
Brad is the Architect!

It's pretty cool to see the KG/PP trade finally come to fruition. We debated a lot over who the C's should draft with these picks. I hope Danny Ainge is sitting in Utah enjoying this win as well. I heard Wyc on local Boston radio (carried on a station up here in Maine) and he was saying that he had been texting back and forth with Danny, and had thanked Danny for putting the foundation in place and told him he deserved a lot of the credit for #18. Wyc also mentioned that he had given the game ball to Brad Stevens, who hugged the ball like it was the most precious thing in the world (paraphrase). Everyone has been talking about how long Al had waited, and how much the Jays had been doubted, but an overlooked aspect to this is that Brad finally got over the hump. He lost 2 NCAA championship games and then reached multiple EC Finals without ever winning a title. If Danny laid the foundation, Brad took it from there and built a masterpiece. So happy for all of them!

Quite right, jmost. Also, we should count our blessings to have an owner like Wyc. I appreciate how progressive we are. One of the things we've done since our Bannerless 90s/00s years is to reconnect with what it means to be a Celtic. Our aim has been to return to winning with class, respect, equality, and honor. We have long had a reputation for not being a team players want to join because we are seen as "uncool." We have worked hard for years to bring the team back to its tradition of excellence by ensuring that those in decision-making positions care about our identity. This meant changing the culture back to how Red built us and making sure that everyone who enters the Garden knows that this is a team steeped in tradition. There a lot to live up to. Big shoes to fill. But more importantly, that we embody a team of compassion, kindness, and love. These are the things most important as a the pathway to true greatness and championships.
People like Danny, who may have had a bad reputation in the past, were able to change and evolve to do the right things for the team. Personal growth and unselfishness has been the key - putting the right people in the right positions. It's not about ego or hype. Find the person who cares about the history, has the best intentions, wants to win, and does it the right way, and your organization will succeed and always be relevant. Good people of character, like Brad Stevens, Joe Mazzulla, and even Al Horford, have been these kinds of people. But it doesn't happen without Wyc and Danny. also, love or hate or criticize Doc but I would also say he was a big part of that cultural shift as well.
In the past, we made some missteps by overly emphasizing hype and athleticism in our draft and trade choices. All the teams back then were looking for the next MJ. We were no exception. However, our current focus on character and morals over ego and hype has contributed to our recent success. I would say that Danny using advanced analytics and unconventional body language/personality tests were also instrumental in where we are now. I think we sorta "Money-Balled" our way back. Better advance progressive scouting and choosing players who don't have personality problems or extra baggage. If you think about it, Delonte was probably our last pick that had those types of problems. Unless I'm forgetting some. In any case, props to everyone for lifting the curse of bad luck we had all those years! Go Celtics Green!

Man, how can you not cheer for this team? It's easy to like and root for every single player on it.
I can't grow tired of watching this.
