Disappointing. Expected? Yeah, sure with this team. Shout out to FLCeltsfan for season long game posts, and shout out to the staple posters...Jmost, eja117, freshnthehouse. Yes, thanks to those who stayed here even as the board's user base dwindled. I hope we can keep it going. Apparently Smart said something about D White getting his knee injured last night. I didn't watch much of the game so I missed that. With Tatum spraining his ankle on the first play and Brogdon being unable to shoot at all, the last thing we needed was an injury to another key guy. Not sure it would have mattered though. I know you should never make big decisions when the wounds of losing are fresh, but at some point soon Brad is going to have to make a big decision: Can the Celtics, with another year's experience for Joe M, a better, deeper coaching staff, and a healthy Tatum and Brogdon, be able to beat the Heat next year with Herro? Do we stay the course for another year, or acknowledge that this is a flawed team and shake things up. I lean toward the latter. If I'm honest, I'm not really surprised that we lost Game 7 at home, and not really shocked that it was a blowout. We often play stupid ball and get bailed out by hot shooting games. Barkley was right. Is it bad coaching? Players not listening to the coaches? Or just unpoised, dumb players?

Flawed. I do not think BOS lost the series last night. BOS was built to mimic GS, however is not GS.

I'm worried that you just can't build offense around two stars where dribbling is their weak points. I definitely want to see the C's look into moving Jaylen to Portland for Simmons and the [HASH]3. It's a gamble, but one worth taking IMO. Any chance Orlando moves Isaac's contract and the [HASH]6 for Smart? I love Smart, but he is not a floor general. I would strongly consider the Blazers thing here but I'd want some sweeteners. I'd want to look into Jerami Grant and/or Shaeden Sharpe and/or multiple future firsts and 2nds. I'd just want more is all. Something that makes you think "Ok I should probably do that."

My issue with the 'jays is that they are coached to do something they are not good at. Shooting 3's, and handling the ball. If the 'jays were used right, 2 top 15 NBA players.

I couldn't agree with that more. You have to put players in a position to do what they do best. Joe is too in love with 3s. So are some of the players. Jaylen is deadly at 12-15 feet, and in the open court. Jayson is unstoppable in the mid-range. Smart is a good post player. None of those 3 are good 3 point shooters. And, for the 1 millionth time, Smart is also not a PG. We have some fine 3 point shooters. Brogdon, Grant, Hauser and Pritch should be the ones shooting 3s.

Coach 'Spo said something like they can't beat us if they don't make their 3s. If you shoot 40% from 3, that equals 60% for 2, then you shoot the 3.

I watch Jokic take 3 shots in the first half against the Heat but absolutely punish them by hunting/attacking mismatches and letting the game come to him and it makes me sad that our stars' weakness happens to be exactly what makes Jokic (among other things) great.
This feels awfully similar to the last time we lost to the Heat (being a huge missed opportunity to be in the finals, losing to a "less talented" team) but, much worse considering the home-court and progress we appeared to make in years since the first go-around.

It does feel awfully similar because we've had the same core problems we've had forever. When the 3s aren't falling we keep shooting them. Five years ago we shot 7-39 from 3 and lost Game 7 to the Cavs. For a team whose offense looks beautiful at times, when the ball and the players are really moving, we sure get stagnant at the worst possible times.
The players have been talking about how we got away from our defensive identity. That's BS. The Heat didn't score that many points in Game 7, but we only scored 84. Think about that. We could have held MIA under 90 points and still lost the game. I was happy to hear Brad say that he thought the problem at the end was the offense. So maybe he'll bring in an offensive minded assistant who can help Joe install something that won't fall apart under pressure. And someone needs to tell Smart and Brown to stop forcing things that aren't there.
Did you folks happen to catch Ainge talking about Joe M? Specifically that he's a much better coach the Ime?

Jmost - I missed the part about Ime, however did read Ainge said "friend" and "hired him", hence wasn't expecting to throw him under the bus. Runrondo - Make no mistake, Jovic is the best the player in the NBA, regardless if he did not win the MVP. All - how ironic, Strus & Robinson trash BOS and go 1-16 combined game #1; and Martin only had 3 points. In the NBA, anything can happen.

Did we catch Miami on a fluky hot streak from 3? They were the lowest scoring team all year and then they couldn't miss a shot.
