Thanks for sharing. That pic of Danny "war chest" versus MJ was a classic!

I looked at the 1956 NBA Draft. 8 NBA teams and the Celtics got Bill Russell, Tom Heinsohn, and K. C. Jones. Best draft by a single team ever? Nobody talks about the Rochester Royals picking Si Green with the first pick ahead of Russell like they talk about Jordan getting snubbed.

Obviously Jerome Moiso belongs somewhere at the top.

Obviously Jerome Moiso belongs somewhere at the top. Right church, wrong pew. BOS had some really bad selections in the 90s early 00s.

Kedrick Brown?
Joseph Forte?
Well, we did take Joe Johnson at 10 -- but quickly traded him away.

The Celtics owner told the Royals owner that if they'd pass on Russell he would schedule the icecapades in the Cincy arena that winter. It was really a different game then lol

I think the story with Forte was that was Red's last move. Forte was a DC guy, and Red stumped hard for him, and since they were just out of the Pitino era where Red was absolutely disrespected, they thought the right thing to do would be to let Red have a swing at a first rounder. I've heard that Chris Wallace wanted to go with Parker.

That list is terrible. Cowens rated below Satch Sanders, KC, Ramsey, and Pierce? Those first three guys don't belong in the same sentence as Cowens - the centerpiece player on multiple title teams. Sanders, KC and Ramsay were all good ROLE players. Even Pierce, a great scorer, didn't have the same all-court influence as Cowens - who Jabbar once said guarded him better than anyone. I'd have to think very hard about whether I'd even pick McHale over Cowens, and I loved McHale. I know if I were starting a team I'd pick Cowens. In my mind, if I'm starting a team the three guys who I'd want to build around are Russell, Bird and Cowens.
