you think it's me in denial. I'm not in denial. A lot of people are. It's why the internet is full of us trading our entire team. When they have no clue what i'm saying is the problem. And I'm being blamed for it. That basically is what abuse is in a nutshell. I get people have other opinions and it's their opinion. It doesn't make it so.

Dude you are calling me a liar and saying denial is not a solution? Most of you are in denial and probably come from abusive homes is the problem. Stop blaming other people for your utter nonsense. I see it all the time. It's not about right or wrong but I'm seriusly like 90 percent right most of the time. Stop denying actual logic yourselves. Nothing I said was denial. I listened and noted certain things. I get the internet needs to contribute other things and like i said all these trade rumors are all well and good but it's nothing i can't do on my own just by watching games.. I've heard that too like i don't watch the games. I actually do. Most of you have intelligence issues. You don't actually watch the games. I am not in denial. I'm watching the games. Most of you have learning disabilities more than likely and I should be a doctor. Think before you take offense to that too. I hear it all the time ont he internet and the bullying that goes on and really does. Mate.. that response is seriously uncalled for. If I'm reading jmost correctly, he's saying the team is in denial about itself. Thinking that they're far better than they actually are. I really doubt he was saying you were in denial. Right, jrmzt. Let's think about this for a second. Who is even in a position to create a solution to the mediocrity we have all see for the last two seasons? Not the media. Not the fans. Certainly no one here. Only Brad and those he trusts. Until he acknowledges (even if it's only to himself and his inner circle) that our roster needs a serious upgrade, we'll be stuck at .500, and doomed to being a bubble team that loses in the first round at best.

I haven't been denying that though. I have been open to a lot of different trades. There is a method to it though. There is a misnomer the celtics are doing things they aren't. Yes they are trying to open up some things so they can add pieces but how they are doing that is not what people think.
This team is trying to improve. I'm not denying any of that. I'm watching the games here in a totally different way and it makes sense if you read it. I'm not even really overthinking it. They are trying to add pieces yes. How they do that is not what a lot of people think.

Do you think it comes down to our scouting department? I mean yes we can upgrade from a big trade but I have to look back at the foundations of where players come from. Are our scouts finding the sort of gems that other teams are finding. Does our scouting department need a serious overhaul? The only ones who have panned out are our top 10 lottery picks..

I think the Celtics are trying to improve as it stands and if a situation opens up where they can save some money through a trade and add a piece they would do that. There are specific things they would do and not do though.
It's not about money is the thing with the celtics. They are going to spend to the luxury tax regardless. The luxury tax is for when they have to pay guys like tatum to keep them. They want players in return who can help them.
It's going to be very difficult to get under the hard cap or soft cap as it is. I don't know which is which. If they can unload Schroder and HOrford and open up money so they can sign a free agent they would do that but it's going to be difficult. They would rather good players back as it stands.
I'm also not saying they wont try to get under the cap so they can sign a free agent but there are very specific ways they would do that. It's not what they want first and foremost. They'd rather get a player back because that solves the issue right there.

The Celtics have money it's more how they spend it. To you or I it's simple to think they are trying to get under the cap. To them they have that 30 million over it plus the luxury tax. They are trying to get under the luxury tax so they can add a player that way. Plus trade exceptions etc..
They are basically at the luxury tax line. The bol bol move was made to get under the luxury tax so they can spend to get a player back potentially.
The regular cap is 120 mil. You have to get under that to spend on free agents. The celtics are not necessarily trying to do that. They are trying to get under the soft cap and luxury tax. If they can deal horford and shroder and get under the regular cap they would. And get a player back so then they are under the cap and get a player. But that's difficult. I explained this all in the free agent thread. We more than likely are not doing that.
I'm not saying we aren't or won't. BUt it's how it all adds up. It's just math.
Trading half our team to get under the soft cap is not the priority so we can sign free agents. It doesn't add up. We aren't going to just throw away 30 million dollars to spend over the cap. If there is a round about way to do that sure.

It does seems like other teams find more value in later picks than we do. RWill was a nice pick at [HASH]27, but I'm not excited about any of the other recent picks. Maybe Brad, who is less far removed from the college game, will have a better eye for young talent than Danny did toward the end.

The Celtics want to spend over the soft cap and over the luxury tax if they can. They want to spend that money which is good. It shows they have good ownership.
It doesn't mean teams under the cap are bad ownership either if it's set up that way where they have young players that they ultimately will spend on. Some teams refuse to and that's where you end up with small markets and just bad ownership and teams that can't compete.
Tyhe Celtics are not that. They want to spend money. They aren't going to throw away 30 million dollars over the cap. They'd spend over the luxury tax line to add a player if they could. Obviously within reason.
These other teams covet certain players because they can then eventually spend over the cap if they are rebuilding or whatever. Some teams are just bad ownership and small markets and refuse to pay. It's also just small markets. Players go elsewhere. They end up in LA etc, etc.

I understand it in other ways but the Celtics are a team that has money. Taxes are high here for a reason. It's not the biggest market but it's not the smallest. They are expected to spend money. It's more how it all fits. They are also expected to be smart and compete. Some small markets really can't. They don't get the same revenue etc and the owners are expected to pay for everything and can be bull headed and cry like they don't have the money. They do and don't. It's complicated. Massachusetts is a commonwealth. It's liberal. People get taxed here.
As far as basketball it's complicated too but not really. I get it for the most part as much as i can comprehend. I can't do all the math here and evaluate every player perfectly and what fits and what doesn't. But to me it makes sense.
There are different scenarios where certain things fit and certain things don't. And I wouldn't rule out anything but it is what it is. People run with that too like it could mean anything and it does in some regard but not really. It has to add up.
Massachusetts is not the highest taxed state either or the lowest. It's a commonwealth. That doesn't mean we are all communists either. It just is what it is. It has to add up as far as what they are trying to do and that can mean a lot of things.

It's also why what you read on the internet isn't necessarily true and the celtics end up doing something else. I'm not saying people are stupid but it's not really what is going on. The celtics do not want to just throw away that 30 million dollars they ahve to spend if they don't have to and trade half their team. They just aren't going to do that unless it comes to that. There are ways they can maneuver.
They can trade off Horford and Shcroder and be at the cap right now for expiring contracts but that doesn't do anything for them. They would have to trade Smart to be under the cap. And that basically gives them 20 million in free agency to sign a player and they just lost 30 million dollars and 3 players.
It's not that complicarted. If they can maneuver where they trade horford and Shroder and get under the cap they might do that but again I don't think that's the priority.
They were trying to get under the luxury tax so they can make deals and take money back and spend over the luxury tax if need be.

If you look at teams trying to rebuild they basically draft players at the top of the draft so they have that asset. Then they have to pay them at some point. Contracts usually work on a scale so you have to maneuver so you can then pay them once they are good and want to get paid. You see teams that try to get tons of value that way. Like OKC with all their picks and players who are rebuilding. Where they will have all this talent. But it's what they do with it ultimately.
Alot of these GM's are playing with cards that way where they get value especially when rebuilding. The celtics aren't overly that. They are a basketball organization first and foremost. And a business too. But it still depends how things fit. All these teams are trying to compete in some round about way.
Players want to get paid based on their talent level and accomplishments. IT's that simple. A lot of these players get paid based on their potential but it's a scale. And economics and supply and demand. They go to free agency and teams bid on them. It's crazyness but is what it is.

I can say one thing, I can't say everything perfectly every second. I compared Tatum to Dirk in aother thread just because of how this team might look ultimately and as I'm typing I'm thinking so it's not always being typed. But I get what i was trying to say. I don't necessarily see Tatum on Dirk's level yet. He has that potential. I more see him somewhere between the Pierce's of the world and the Dirk's of the world. If there is a level right after the Dirk's or Durants he is right there. I've said that though. He is still developing and hasn't hit his prime yet.
Labelling these players isn't good either because potential wise sky is the limit with him. He really could end up a better player ultimately and win a lot I feel. That's how I see it. Sky is the limit. Players can improve and it's what they do with it.
I used to keep things short too and simple but after a while who cares. I just speak my mind as best i can. One way or the other. I used to be really quiet. Then i realized how much i really know and it's a lot. And how people ven judge that. They don't know. I can be both and understanding.
Still always trying to learn too and that changes. Every situation is different. I've been doing sports for a long time. Waste of time in ways but i know what i know and sometimes people don't know what i know and it gets confusing. I get that.
