Unlike Danny, GM Brad might not be as interested in bringing in rookies every year. Nonetheless, it'll be fun to keep tabs on players throughout the season.
At the top, the early favorite to be the top pick is Duke big man, Paolo Banchero. Legit PF/C body with guard skills.
Chet Homgren should get consideration among the top as he is a skilled (but rail thin) Center who can do it all.
This draft will be heavy with talented wing players.

No to Chet. Hell no. That frame? Jesus..please no. Even Trae Young could box him out.

Unless we do so badly we pick in the top 2-3, we probably aren't getting Paolo either. But even if we somehow got him...is he even on the same timeline as Jaylen and Jayson? Jaylen's discounted deal will run out and he'll want a max. We need to be pairing our 2 max players with the best chance to compete right now.

Yup, we're near stepping into win now mode (when Tatum and Jaylen are in their mid 20's). So the draft is going to be about getting cheap contributors who can plug-and-play right away. Down the line we have Yuhann Bergarin and Yam Madar, so if by chance a highly touted raw player slides and it's too great an opportunity to pass up, he can be part of our next wave.

Jabari Smith is a guy who intrigues me. Great looking midrange game and he likes shooting it fading away.

Unfortunately it looks like we're going to be picking somewhere in the teens, again.
Yam Madar has looked good over in Europe, but, well, it's Europe, so it's hard to know how well it will translate. We need a PG who can push the ball. Schroder will almost certainly be gone, and while Smart throws the long pass well, he isn't fast. Neither is Pritch. If Yam isn't ready, or good enough, I'd love to get a PG who plays fast. We have speed on this team that isn't utilized enough. Robert can outrun most if not all centers. Same with Jaylen at the wing. And Begarin is freakishly fast. We need more easy buckets and running is one way to get them. We walk the ball up the court way too often.
Put me down for TyTy Washington from KY. Or whoever can get the ball up the court fast and if it comes to the half court game, penetrate.

As of today, Dec 30 2021, we would be picking 11th, although that could change dramatically in the coming months. But if we do wind up with the [HASH]11 pick, what say we package it with a decent player (or two) to move up? Just about everyone should be on the table except for Jaylen, Jayson and maybe Robert.

Im usually all for moving up, but it's nearly impossible to move up higher into the lottery. Teams know the value of those picks, making it so hard to do.

I'm sure you're right, but I'd still try. Either way, let's hope Brad does better with picks in the teens than Danny did recently. I've argued for patience with Romeo and Nesmith, but my own patience is wearing thin.

yeah i was hoping one of nesmith or romeo could become starter quality, but sadly it's not looking like either did. man, both of those years if sacto and memphis coulda been a little worse. if sacto is one spot lower we get Herro. If Memphis is to slots lower we take Haliburton. This teams fortunes look a lot different.

Depends on whether we think a talent in the draft aligns with the timelines of Tatum or Brown? They're 24 and 25 respectively I think? At this point..and given the state of the team.. you kinda want a more mature player who can help lead or take charge. Looking at this draft, it certainly doesn't have the feel of a deep overwhelming talent pool. Some of the guys I had my eyes on early like Duran have looked really bad.

So far, my top three are Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren and Jabari Smith. I'm not worried about Chet's skinny frame like I used to be. He's not a #1 option, but I get the sense he's the type who helps you win championships.
Mid round guys I'd like to get my hands on is Bryce McGowens, Blake Wesley and Hyunjung Lee. McGowens has the body type and athleticism, and the skill set that should translate well to the NBA. I think he's starting material. Same with Wesley. Lee is a deadly shooter and is decent at moving without the ball, and at 6'9", is quite versatile.

you know who's someone that i would target with the C's second round pick? Christian Braun out of Kansas. I think he can be that 9th guy off the bench, chaotic instigator that drives other teams nuts.
