Just read that Dinwiddie, Lowry and Derozan want to join up with Lebron and AD.
That just sucks if it happens. The narrative the whole year will be a Lakers vs Nets Finals.

I would take that with a tiny, tiny grain of salt. Unless they want to play for a fraction of the Lakers' MLE, it's not going to happen. I can't imagine any reputable site posted that.

It was probably made up by delusional Fakers fans. They think they will sign every decent to great free agent no matter their circumstances. The only fan base is as delusional or more are Cowturd fans.

I hate that the Lakers (or any team) can put together a contender by clearing their whole roster, signing one of the true superstars of the league, and then just attracting other players who are chasing a ring. And GMs in places like Minnesota or Salt Lake City are not on an even playing field with GMs in LA or Miami. It's a real problem and I don't know the answer. Players want to win and they would rather live in a warm, sunny place. How do you fight that? You can get lucky and draft a Giannis, who not only becomes a superstar that no one foresaw but STAYS there (unlike Kareem), but those guys are rare. Maybe our two young stars continue to grow every year and get to the point where Boston becomes a desired place to play. I certainly hope so, because I'm afraid the Lakers will be able to reload with a new generation of stars whenever James retires.

I'd love to see the salary cap adjusted or rules that you can only sign a max of 2 players to contracts that are X% of your cap. Then lets see if Derozan and Lowry are willing to play for peanuts just for a ring. And make it a hard cap so that there isn't any funny accounting. Even the playing field by forcing guys to literally lose tens of millions if they tried to team up. And after all that, if Harden, KD and Kyrie were willing to get paid $10mil each to play together then hats off to them. Because that obviously means money doesn't transcend their winning desire. Honestly though...I can't blame anyone choosing to play in LA. Weather is nice, a hub of entertainment, close to SF or Vegas, you get to connect with other celebrities etc. Other cities can't compete because they simply can't replicate all of that.

Shams is reporting that the Lakers and the Wizards are discussing a trade that will send Westbrook to LA.
They're probably looking at Westbrook to be their heir apparent once Lebron calls it quits. He and AD.
Are the Wiz heading into a rebuild? Will this mean Beal gets moved too?

I dont think the Wiz are in a rebuild. Not when you're trading for KCP, Harrell and Kuzma who are all going to contribute to getting wins. I think this is their attempt to give Beal more veteran help. KCP bringing 3p range, Kuzma who gets a chance to rebuild his career, and Harrell who was under-utilised with the Lakers. Those are moves that help you win now.
For the Lakers...wow..their depth is absolute trash. One of their big 3 goes down, and its all over.

Beal had John Wall and then Westbrook, so he was never given the reins. Maybe behind the scenes this was a talking point for him to stay long term.

Rubio to the Cavs...interesting. I wonder if it means anything for Sexton or Garland.

Maybe the Laker's lack of depth will hurt them, but they might just be able to fill out their bench with older veteran ring-chasers who have made their money and will play for the vet minimum. I hate what the NBA is becoming.

I hate what the NBA is becoming. That team will be a mess. Westbrick and LeChina can't shoot and are both ball dominant. None of their "big 3" can stay healthy and they don't have any money to get anyone else that can make a difference. I think both teams lost in that trade because Wizards got a bunch of garbage in return too.

It probably also means that they cant afford to keep Drummond

Interesting move for the Lakers. Westbrook is major talent, but man, they are really banking on size and athleticism. If healthy the should be phenomenal on defense, but my goodness they'll be short on shooting. And Russ will be 33 this year, so their window to win is pretty short.

Let's hope this will work out as well as Shaq/Kobe/Payton/Malone did.
