Because we traded away the 16th pick, our focus is now going to be finding a serviceable player at 45.
We may go international here so we can stash him for a time.
There are a bunch of not-so-common names that I would be excited to get. Wing Josh Primo is one. PGs Jordan Hall or Daishen Nix or Quentin Grimes are others.
Big man Charles Bassey could be available.
But I'd be giddy if PF Trendon Watford from LSU is our pick.

Not sure if Udoka will want to incorporate what he learned under Pop here in BOS, but if he does, he'll need smart big men who can play versatile.
Jay Huff could be an option here. Not a high upside guy, but tall guy who is fundamentally sound and smart -- can hit three's too.

Quentin Grimes was a guy I liked coming out of high school, kept an eye on him at Kansas (and later Houston after he transfered), and though he hasn't lived up to his ealier rankings, he's still a guy I like.
6'5" PG who can play offball as well, has a sturdy body similar to Jason Kidd's.
He is a good three point shooter who can hit shots in various ways. Good defender as well. Has a good motor.
Would be a good pick up with the 45th pick.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Charles Bassy is rated so low.
A 6'10" stout big man with strength, agility, and dexterity who outruns SF's on breaks, is a lob threat, can roll and find seams, who can finish down low and hit three's.
He's a player I'd gladly take at 45 -- probably even at 16 if we had that pick.

I think I saw an interview with Reaves. Is he kinda a 3 and d guy? A Kyle Korver? A 3 and some D guy with facilitating ability. A shorter poor man's Gordon Hayward. From what I've learned, he is an exceptional catch and shoot three point shooter. And with the ball in his hands, he's a good playmaker -- but I think his lack of burst will limit his ability to be more than average at best in this area. |

I'm not seeing my shoot-for-the-moon guy Ibou Badji being picked in any mock drafts. Maybe Brad will pick him up as a Tacko-like project. More upside in my opinion than Tacko.

I saw Kevin O'Connor's latest mock from this morning.
Has us mocked to take David Johnson, a 6'5" PG from Louiseville.
I wouldn't hate that pick, and would hope he can develop into a steadying PG who can control the tempo and set up the team (and score when need to).
But with who he mocks after us, I'd hope either for Luka Garza or Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.

My guess is we take an older player whose game is polished and is near ready to contribute from Day 1.
We already have a lot of young players to develop, and I'm not sure Brad wants to be overload Udoka with another one.
That, or an international draft and stash.

Surprised TOR passed on Suggs (being Canadian and all) fo Barnes (who plays an awful lot like Siakam).
