celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/view.bg?articleid=120677If the Celtics don’t turn their dismal season around, Paul Pierce can picture himself in another uniform before the Feb. 23 trade deadline. And he wouldn’t mind winding up with a contender. “It’s something I’d give a lot of thought to,” Pierce said before scoring 32 points in last night’s 104-102 Celtics’ loss to the Mavericks at TD Banknorth Garden. Statistically, Pierce is having his best season. “But I’d rather have a season like this when we’re winning,” he said. “A career is defined by winning games and championships.” Pierce, 28, and in his eighth season, said he feels he’s running out of time. “I’m not getting any younger,” Pierce said. “(A trade) is something I’d give a lot of thought to.” Pierce said he might lobby for a trade himself or it could be instigated by Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge. Pierce entered last night’s game averaging 26.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He’s shooting just under 50 percent. Some teams would consider Pierce just what they needed in order to make a deep playoff run.wtf - i didn't expect this!!!!

I guess I cant blmae him for thinking about it. Hopefully he's professional enough not to let it affect his game.

Right Fresh. I can't say it's a big shock to me. I did hope he would give the team till next season, before getting too frustrated and vocal about it.

What is wrong for wanting to go to a new situation? I for one am all for it. Pierce has done all he can for the Celtics but Ainge has screwed him by rebuilding. Let's face it, Pierce will not resign for the Celtics under any circumstances. The best we can hope for is Pierce, Blount and Jefferson to Minnesota for Olowkandi and Garnett. We get a top 5 player and cap space. We commit to Perkins. RD and Raef can become better players. Tony Allen can become a monster.
We go to the playoffs and give 'em hell.

I don't think that trade would ever happen. Can't see us giving up Al. Can't see Minnesota giving up KG, even if Pierce is included.
No I think that before Pierce gets traded, we may see one last trade just to see if we can be competitive this year, sorta like the Walker trade last year.
I also think Pierce will say in the paper's tomorrow that the comment was taken out of context and it just gets frustrating losing game after game, and that he would like to remain a Celtic but he wants to win.
(basically challenging DA to make the team more competitive/improve the team).

I dont think the salaries of the Minny/Boston trade would work. Garnett makes around 20 mill a year I believe. He signed a huge deal b4 the new CBA was official, so he actually makes more than league max, like Shaq. IMO, that trade wouldnt help us anyway. We wouldnt be that much better, and KG would not be happy here anyway. Besides, you wont see KG getting traded anytime soon. And I can see how you can think that AInge screwed Pierce over. However, Id rather see that then have us make someband-aid type trade that will make us play-off worthy, but still not even close to contending. I'd much rather roll the dice on rebuilding than be stuck in on-and-done play-off purgatory.

Considering Shaq was only worth a couple decent players and one good one I wouldn't expect much for a player not nearly as good and who wants out

lets do this trade pp for ben gordon duhon tim t and the 2006 1 pick. If it is the Knick's 1st round pick then i would do it. But then we'll have 6 players at the PG position.( Gordon, Duhon, Banks, West, Greene, and Dickau). I rather have Deng and Gordon.

Im not enamored with Gordon at all. 6'2" shooting guard? I'll pass.

Oh, I guess this is what the fuss is all about (refering to Q's thread about the buzz currently surrounding Pierce and trade talks).
I honestly think this is just Pierce voicing his frustration. I'm certain he'll talk to Ainge and come out with a statement later in the week saying that he takes back what he said.

P2 perhaps can be frustarted, but let's layout the truth. On what level has he been apart of a championship? 0. Could he have been? Yes. P2, should know his role, keep his mouth shut.

I can understand how he feels, but why go to the press about it? He should do what he did this summer and go to Ainge privately. Now there will be endless follow-up questions, and thi s young team does not need any distractions. Plus our bargaining position is worse.

don't read much into it. pierce was voicing his frustartions indeed. pp would be very hard to trade because danny won't sell him low and i can't see anybody giving us something of a value.
and PLEASE - forget this ben gordon talk, he will ALWAYS be just another undersized two guard. if you want to talk trade with chicago then the package danny would be interested is at least pp/blount for hinrich, deng, thomas. since it's not happening any deal will NOT happen with the bulls
