Whereas the 2020’draft class lacked upper end sizzle, the 2021 offers up a generous serving of high end potential. At the top is likely to be Cade Cunningham. He can dominate the high school level with 50% effort. m.youtube.com/watch?v=lyRJNa-psDs

Of course I’d like for us to be the best team in the league, but if we aren’t it could turn out to be a blessing because this draft could possibly have hidden gems even post lottery.

Brandon Boston is another prospect who caught my attention. Has a build like Brandon Ingram, and is highly skilled like him. He’s a guy who knows how to play and loves playing basketball. And with that name, how can he not exceed in Boston?

Scottie Barns, is 6’7”-6’8”, with some beef, and good passing IQ. Passionate player. Solid handles for a 4, and not a lot of wasted dribbling. Likes to attack, but keeps his head up and eyes open, and is able to make quick decisions and execute clean passes. Can score a bit near the basket but at the point doesn’t really take mid range or 3’s.
We hear it often when undersized bigs can pass the ball, that they’re Draymond-like. Well, that is the case with Scottie Barns.

Josh Christopher, another prospect who is grabbing my attention.
A powerful SG with ability to run the Point. Grabs rebounds among men, and can go coast to coast. Loves to drive with contact and pull up for jumpers. Will take an opening and throttle it to the rim. Good form on his shooting, able to hit free throws and 3’s comfortably.
Has an aggressive nature, but not out of control or reckless.
He’s among my early season favorites.

College season has started.
Cade Cunningham looked good, controlled the game and took over when needed.
Even Mobley, big skinny man for USC had a nice first game. Flashes a nice jump hook, which is hard to block due to his height and length. Moves well, and can shoot threes. Not an aggressive player and can get pushed around. Played in the flow of the game.
Jalen Suggs, PG for Gonzaga, looked good too. His intensity is nice to see. Quick burst of speed, plays aggressive, likes to take it to the rim, looks to pass it (maybe looks for the homerun passes).

Brandon Boston is one of my favorite players in this draft class. Should be a fairly good scorer, who has the ability to adjust his body to score in a variety of ways. Can drive with contact, even though he’s slim. And he defends well too.

I'd love to get a pick swap from charlotte for taking on Batum's ridiculous contract. but sadly i don't think we're able to do it cap-wise. i just want a chance at getting into this lottery. Why did memphis have to not be terrible last season?!?

Why did memphis have to not be terrible last season?!? A lot can change from now till next draft, such as prospects not living up to their hype. But as of right now, this draft looks it can easily go 10 deep with big upside talents. I don’t know if Ainge can fanagle a draft from a lottery team, but it’d be great if he could.

Jalen Suggs with another good game. He’s an ignitor, sparkplug type, quick burst player who likes to attack the rim. So far, he doesn’t just settle for jumpers and 3’s. Likes to make homerun passes, so we need to monitor his turnover to assist ratio.

Trayce Jackson-Davis is a 6’9” PF/C for Indiana U.
The perimeter is not his game. He scores inside of 15 feet, and loves to dunk when he can. I don’t know if his game fits the NBA, but that guy can score.

Scottie Barnes continues to impress. He’s a really good down hill player, good exceleration, good finishes. Excellent handles for 6’8”. Only thing is, he’s not good at shooting.

Miles McBride, combo guard for West Virginia. Another unhyped prospect who could emerge as a really good player. I like what I see. m.youtube.com/watch?v=6pYEcGszWuA

Ok, one of the most difficult names to pronounce in this year’s draft belongs to Sandro Mamukelashvili! He’s a 6’11” SF/PF who has deceptive quickness, solid ball handling, good passing vision and he can post up, drive to the basket and finish, draw fouls, and hit three’s. His drawbacks are, he’s a senior (which is really not a bad thing) and his defense may not he all that great. m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaHITQPKaZw
